Brutal Mode Difficulty Mod (core)

Now compatible with Plant and Cook, Eat. Drink. Sleep. Repeat! and other mods that require getting organics from stone.
You now must reprocess gravel to filter out organic particles, I feel this is a better mechanic that is easier to balance.

This is the core of Brutal Mode. It will work as is but you should add other mods to compliment it.

Introduction
If the Hard Mode Difficulty mod was too easy for you here is Brutal Mode >:3

This mod changes a LOT of things small tweaks, large tweaks, ore maps and everything in-between to give a much harder game play experience.
Brutal mode is a harder version of Hard Mode, it does not require Hard Mode or other mods to run.

Differences between Brutal mode and Hard mode.

Brutal Mode has:
  • A different weather system
  • Survival Kit uses 20% more power
  • Assemblers uses 20% more power
  • Small Refinery uses 25% more power
  • Large Refinery uses 50% more power
  • H2O2 gen hydrogen yield is 33.4% less
  • Hydrogen bottles hold 26.7% less
  • H2O2 gen oxygen yield is 24.2% less
  • Large Oxygen tanks last 4 hours (50% less)
  • Small Oxygen tanks last 2 hours (33% less)
  • Oxygen bottles hold 33% less
  • Large oxygen Bottle recipe more expensive
  • Char Oxygen is now 16.7% lower
  • Damage from low oxygen is now 100% more
  • Power lost in uranium ore processing increased
  • Reduced ore yields but increased refining speed to compensate (bulky ores).
  • Miner faction shops no longer sell: Cobalt ore, gold ore or any ingots other than iron
  • Trader faction shops no longer sell: Ultimate riffle, rocket launchers, grids, superconductor, thruster comp, reactor comp or gravity comp
  • Components may cost a little more or take a little longer to produce.
  • Oxygen density on Earth is 27.8% lower.
  • Jet pack even less effective in atmosphere
  • Other things I didn’t list!
NOTE: Hard mode nerfs vanilla, Brutal mode nerfs Hard mode.

Weather
I feel weather should be an infrequent risk not a constant repair job.
Weather is a bit different now and comes in 2 parts.
Lightning will no longer hit the player.

Normal weather:
Lightning only strikes grids if it is AlienThunderstormHeavy (3.9% spawn) or MarsStormHeavy (16% spawn on Mars, 9.5% on Titan). These hit 1 time every 5-10 minutes.
More or less a no lightning mod, but you can find it in the right places if you want to.

Brutal weathers:
A very low chance of a more deadly weather popping up was added, to give a risk factor that is less repetitive. It comes - then it is gone, as it should be. No need to stress about it until it is happening, as it’s unlikely to be happening as it spawn chance is low. But when it happens you better move!

MegaStorm and MegaBlizzard: These will do lightning damage to grids, these are large powerful storms on some planets that strike infrequently but do a lot of damage each strike.

Tornado and Frozen Tornado: These do wind damage. A lot of smaller bites of damage to anything not undercover. They have a habit of popping armoured blocks, but the damage is normally spread out. They are not very frequent and grid damage can be hit or miss.

Spawn chances
Pertam: Tornados (0.7%)
Triton: Frozen Tornado(1.5%), Mega Blizzard (3%)
Earth: Tornado (0.9-1.6%), Mega Storm (2.6%)
Alien: Tornado or Frozen Tornado (1.2-1.6%)
Mars: Tornado (1.4%) or Frozen Tornado (1.2%) on snow
Titan: Tornado (1.6%)


It’s hard to find the right balance with weather in this game even after months of testing! So please give me feedback so I can adjust. It should not happen to often unless you are very unlucky. =3

Known issues:
Minor bug: Organics lacks an in world texture. This doesn’t not hinder game play at all.

@shumbalion now sure where the best place is to ask questions, but here I am:
Is there any way to disable all features but the weather? Or make the weather more deadly? Or do you have the weather as an independent feature?

Personally I think a great way to make the game more difficult and random is to include more dangerous weather, especially to small grids, and I love these options. I already edit the other parameters to make everything less efficient, but this is the thing I cant find anywhere, especially for modded planets!

Short answer yes compatible. Best practice to load planet last in mod order.
Longer answer there are some trade-offs.
Moded planets have their own planet files, this controls weather (what types and how often), ore distribution + any planet settings. So you will not get custom weathers added by other mods, the ore distribution will be whatever the planet gives you and obviously planet settings like gravity will be what that mod planet sets.
Some planets may change vanilla weather settings (what the weather actually dose), often in error. But most just add to them. If vanilla weather settings are overridden by the planet for whatever reason, you can normally control it by loading the planet last. For single player the item on top of the mods list, takes priority so put the planet on the bottom. If you want to have the planet use a weather from another mod, you need to mod the planet files to include it (tedious).

It appears to be an issue with the MES or its AerodynamicsModAdvLiftOverride setting.
The mod has been updated and everything is fine with the ships option disabled.
I'll keep an eye on the NPС.

It would be power issues ‘if anything’ to do with this mod. It really depends on the NPC mods used tho, I never had issues with the old assert mods. I have not tested recent NPC mods with this lately.
It could be that the NPC mods or MES didn’t load right. I’ve had that before where they randomly ignore gravity and don’t even thrust to avoid it. In such case I not only had to restarts SE but my computer as something appears to linger in the memory O_o thanks Keen lol tho I normally only get that issues with a lot of other script mods running.

@shumbalion With this mod, MES NPC drones and ships on hydrogen thrusters fall on the planet.

I haven't fully understood the reason yet. Either the HO generator performance is low and the tanks are missing or they don't have enough electricity.
