Visible Holy Mantles

Description
Description
Displays all the Holy Mantle-like shields that a character has (including shields from holy card, Blanket, and wooden cross).
This mod is cosmetic, it does not alter any mechanics.

Configuration
This mod is integrated with Mod Config Menu.
This mod can be used in conjunction with Visible Lost Health.

If you do not have Mod Config Menu installed, no problem!
  1. Go to the mod folder location (should be under Steam\steamapps\common\The Binding of Isaac Rebirth\mods\visible_holy_mantles_ for Windows users) and open the file main.lua.
  2. Look for a section in the file titled 'VHM.Settings'. This should be around line 10.
  3. Edit the values within 'VHM.Settings', save and close the file.
  4. Go to the data folder for Repentance (should be under Steam\steamapps\common\The Binding of Isaac Rebirth\data for Windows users) and delete the folder visible_holy_mantles.

Known Bugs and Limitations
  • Only the first player can see their extra shields. Also, shields are not shown for Esau.
  • When you first enable this mod in the main menu, the sprites may be drawn on top of the health bar. Simply close and reopen the game and this should fix itself.

@Kenny Unfortunately, no progress has been made and I have cancelled any additional progress towards making it work with Repentance+.
As of now this mod is essentially no longer being worked on, and will likely remain that way unless there is a major patch that breaks it.

any progress on getting it working with repentance plus? i don't see anything about it in the description or changelogs, but i do see that it was planned in a comment from a year ago

@Muk-Bong This is display only, the mantles already function like this in vanilla.

Do the mantles stack in vanilla? Does this change how they interact or is it display changes only?

@jnub Alright, I pushed out a patch that should fix the Tainted ??? bug where it draws the mantles on top of their health. I was unable to fix the bug where the mantles would stick around during a black screen transition, though. Let me know if you find any more bugs.

@Will I wasn't playing as Tainted Lost, I was playing as Tainted ???. An example of a black screen would be right after you kill Dogma.
