Description
Teal River is a vast riverside map with lots of flat buildable space, great for cities that expand to larger areas beyond the main cityscape with more rural and countryside style settings. The vast fields don't feel mundane as the map has some variety in the landscape wherever you look at, which helps with keeping the map interesting in more long span city builds. All the bridges crossing the river are high enough for ships and extensive shipping routes are present, great for harbours.

Don't be intimidated by the long list of requirements! In actuality the list consists of:
• 4 mods
• 2 map themes
• 2 bridge assets
• 1 set of trees
• 1 custom highway set, which makes up 70% of the long-ass list.

Use the one-click collection for easy subscription to everything :)

UPDATE:
Mass Transit version available now HERE !

Since everyone likes lists, here's a short list-style description of this map:
  • Mostly an all-flat map. Some hills here and there to bring variety though.
  • 365K Trees, hence a mod to disable the vanilla tree limit is required (Unlimited Trees Mod for example).
  • Close attention to detail in terms of smooth roads, no collisions and no trees in weird places. A standard for my work.
  • Pre-existing networking takes care of heavy traffic, but still leaves room for the city builder to connect some routes and find their own preferred ways to shape the map to their liking.
  • All transportation modes present. There are a total 7 highway connections at the map's edge, but only 4 of them are connected due to the game's limit. If you wish to connect all 7 connections, use Unlimited Outside Connections + 81 Tiles to connect the rest of the routes. Unlimited Outside Connections do not work in the map editor, which is why all highways are not connected.
  • Plenty of natural resources. Scroll to the end of the screenshots to see overview images of the map.
  • Pre-built sewage treatment for the start square to help the city builder at the beginning due to the lack of a proper body of water in the start square. Also some pre-built roads in the start square.
  • Node controller has been used to make really smooth ramps and intersections. I did not, however, end up using the Intersection Marking Tool as I felt the markings looked a bit awkward with the selected set of highways.

Visual mods to achieve the same look as in the screenshots:
  • LUT: Relight 3 Average
  • Daylight Classic (all to classic)
  • Clouds & Fog Toggler (disable clouds and edge fog)
  • Road Colors Changer ++

[THEME MIXER SETTINGS]
Base Theme: Solstice
Grass: Solstice
Ruined: Solstice
Gravel: Solstice
Cliff: Solstice
Sand: Cedar Valley 4K
Cliff and sand normal: Solstice
Pavement: Solstice
Oil: Solstice
Ore: Solstice

In conclusion, the only texture to change is the sand texture! If you do not want to use the theme mixer, the map will have a few wonky looking beaches due to the different textures but it will still work.

Other recommended mods:
  • 81 Tiles to take advantage of all the space provided. Works well with just 25 or even the vanilla 9 tiles too!
  • Prop & Tree anarchy to prevent some trees disappearing at launch due to collisions.

A word from the creator:
This map was finished back in August, but it still needed the finishing touches, which was pushed back all the way to the last couple weeks now due to me being busy with other stuff. Fixing up silly issues caused by the terrain loading differently in the map editor when compared to the game itself takes an absurd amount of time and it is an absolutely necessary step to ensure the maps I upload meet the quality standards I've set for my work. This process of fine tuning the map takes multiple hours and dozens of times loading up the map in both the editor and in-game and rebooting the game every time in between to avoid issues. All this is a tedious task but it eventually pays off. I hope this attention to quality does not go unnoticed and you enjoy building on this map!
:)

If you come across any bugs / issues, please let me know down in the comments. I'll do my best to make up time to patch up any possible errors! Also feel free to post any questions, critique, compliments, whatever you want to!

Hi there! I'm aware that some of the mods have become obsolete and newer versions are available, however I've also heard of people having to use the old mods to get some older maps to work, hence I'd rather keep the old mods in the requirements list as it's easier to find the newest mods than to try and find an older version from the time when the map was created. Also, keeping up to all the mods and updating all items on the workshop accordingly would take a surprising amount of ongoing effort.

I'm certainly planning to continue making maps in CS2, but of course I'll have to see how much time I have to dedicate to map making once CS2 releases. I am certainly looking forward to making maps on CS2 though! Glad to hear you like my work :) Thanks for commenting!

The retaining walls pack should definitely not be a cause for the map not loading, unless they consume the very last bits of the system's RAM, which could cause the map not to load. The retaining walls are relatively small details and the map will look fine even without them, so if you're having trouble with the asset, you could always run the map without them :) I hope you've found a solution already though!

Sorry, I mean the retaining walls pack

Even with loading screen mod, this map will not load. I think it is the fence pack because every time I subscribe to it, it does not show up.

If you find out the culprit(s) for the issues, please let me know. Always curious to learn, and also it's a valuable asset to have here in the comments in case someone else is having a similar issue. Also interested to hear if you're experiencing the same issue with the MT version of the map. On top of all that, issues aside - happy to hear you like the map! :hardhat:

Some peculiar issues indeed. You mentioned that you're not using any mods that affects the category of issues we have here, but I'm still curious to check, have you checked that you're not using any possibly outdated mods, such as the anarchy mods that I think were updated this fall? For example, Network Anarchy, replacing Road Anarchy and a number of other mods.

Regarding the outside connections complaints, completely no idea what could cause them (or what exactly the complaint is?).
The water pump complaint is likely to have something to do with the pre-placed water pump (or sewage dump, rather). The pump is located in the bottom right hand corner, if you look at the overview which can be found at the end of the screenshot reel.

Oh but otherwise this is one of the best, pretty, and easy to start with flat areas. Feels like a real place!

I'm getting some odd issues with this map. I don't have any mod that affects these category of issues, so it may be just all the updates since release.

First there is weird nodes, some are butchered and I had to use node controller to "T" them nice and straight, as well as use Network Multitool to delete bad nodes (you can see they ground clip).

I am now getting complaints about outside connections and some distant northern water pump is causing land flooding.

I have used this map before without the complaints, just node issue. Since then I got Mass Transit as well, so going to restart my map (having not done much) with that version instead to see if it helps (https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2670174756) .

That's a good suggestion, I'll see if I find time to create a dependencies collection! To be fair though, you can subscribe to the highway set via the highway collection (click on any of the highway pieces, from there you can find the collection), after which there are not too many items to subscribe to. Regardless, thanks for the suggestion. Glad to hear you like the map!
