IMPORTANT: Please alert me if there are any game breaking bugs as a result of the modlist being incomplete or if its causing conflicts. I'm probably not going to include all the mods as requirements, so please subscribe to the one-click collection which is a properly complete list of requirements (or at least I hope it is). Also alert me if there are any dlc requirements I'm missing. I'm pretty sure I got all the mass transit roads and replaced them with workshop ones.

Swamp On The Rocks is my first map in a few years (I posted one in like 2017 I think that was kinda meh). Featuring flooded lowlands, a dammed reservoir in the highlands, fjords, valleys, mountains, creeks, and more! There are even a few easter eggs hidden in the map. I recommend using the 81 tiles mod, but this map is designed to work for just 25 tiles as well.

The theme mix I used is just the temperate realistic one included in the one click collection, but I replaced the beach texture with the vanilla temperate one.

In my mind while making this map, I had a specific fictional history in mind for the region, but feel free to write your own lore for your own city. This make is a fictional location located in New England-ish that was first settled by indigenous american tribes, largely from the Algonquin language family. In the early 11th century, Norse explores settled in the bay on the southern side of the map, even building a stone castle, but their settlement was abandoned for unknown reasons. Later, French fur trappers and English puritans would settle in the region. Eventually, the British would push the French out of the region in what was known as the Expulsion of the Acadians.

Various small towns would spring up around the area for various reasons, from fishing, to farming, to mining, and continue to prosper well into the 19th century. The economic productivity of the region rose slowly, but steadily until the early 1900s, when the Pennsylvania Railroad built several new electrified rail lines to connect the various industries of the region, with a central hub on the central island. Eventually, with the rise of submarine warfare, the U.S. Navy wanted to establish a new naval base specifically for the purpose of housing the U.S.'s submarine fleet. The deep, narrow channels of the fjord were perfect for this purpose, and so the navy invested tons of money into building a new naval base in the harbor.

As a result of the New Deal, a hydroelectric dam and several rail and road bridges were built by the PWA (Public Works Administration). These projects were further accelerated once war in Europe looked more likely in order to better supply the navy base. However, in 1937, disaster struck when a massive landslide completely obstructed the only pass wide enough to safely let ships pass, crushing two commercial ore barges, damaging several settlements and navy ships in the resulting megatsunami, and damaging several other watercraft. In total, 257 people died in what is known as the "Norse Fjord Disaster." The landslide left several U.S. Navy and commercial craft stranded in the harbor. With the war fast approaching, and explosives becoming scarce due to military stockpiling and other construction projects, it was decided that it would be cheaper and faster to dredge a new canal in the adjacent swampy river delta, and have it reach around to connect to the back of the bay, since digging through river mud is a lot easier than through solid rock. Several new bridges for road and rail travel were also built over the new canal.

With the rise of military aviation, the spoils from the canal project were used to create a navy airfield at the entrance to the canal. After the war ended, the navy outgrew the airfield; the runways were too short and surrounding topography too dangerous for high speed jet aircraft. As a result, the Navy abandoned the airfield, which is now a navy & aviation history park. The rest of the highway network was built in the 1950s and 60s as a result of the Interstate Highway Act. Since the act was written to connect military installations and not just cities, the region got its current build-out of highway infrastructure, and a perfect opportunity for the Johnson Administration to build a model city as part of the "Great Society" projects, which is where you take charge as the main city planner for this newly incorporated and quickly urbanizing region.

I would like to thank the kind people of the BonBonB discord channel, as well as BonBonB himself for his map making tutorials and for the wonderful community he created. Thank you for reading! I hope you have fun playing on my map!

Looks interesting, as an FYI it looks like you have some mods here... looks like the Bay Bridge and that Rail customizer mod. You'll get more downloads and they'll have a better experience if you list them.

Looks good!
