UNSC Draken

Description
As a major fan of the Halo series, I've always wanted to design my own UNSC vessel in Space Engineers. While there's lots of popular ships to choose from, like the "Pillar of Autumn" and the "Forward Unto Dawn", I wanted to build one of the lesser-known classes of ships. So, I set out to build a Strident-Class Light Frigate, which I named the UNSC DRAKEN, and now I'm ready to let you have the bridge, fellow captain.

This big guy features a deadly mid-to-long range arsenal of weaponry and top-of-the-line tech including:

- 3 MAC Cannons located at the bow. Alright, so they use gravity, not magnetism, to fire boulders. Whatever! It's Halo, just use your imagination. Each cannon fires large rocks at about 150 m/s, fast enough to tear through station walls like they were a grunt's squealing head. The downside is that they're only effective against stationary targets. The upside is that their projectiles can't be targeted shot down by turrets. Their ammo is fed into a large storage container by the 3 collectors located in the red band of paint across the front of the Draken's hull. The storage system for the MAC cannons is kept separate from the main storage system of the ship to prevent captains from accidentally firing all of their cargo and loot at the enemy.

- 6 Rocket Pods. While the MAC cannons are great for cracking open stationary structures, the rocket pods are your bread & butter for taking down other ships. The Draken is best suited for long-range combat, shredding opponents with rockets before they get close enough to counterattack. However, it is capable in a mid-range fight thanks to its surprising maneuverability, able to quickly rotate to reacquire targets and continue its barrage.

- 3 Missile Turrets (2 on the top sides, 1 at the bottom of the hull). Primarily used for ship-to-ship combat or meteorite defense. Warning: If you set them to target "moving objects" so they'll help you take down another ship, be sure to turn them off after you're done, or they'll blow you to pieces if you walk out of the Draken.

- 8 Gatling Turrets. While useful in defending the Draken against small enemy fighters, the primary role of these darlings is to keep the immediate airspace clear of enemy rockets and the occasional pesky meteorite.

- 2 Nuclear Fusion Engines. Located deep in the ship, they're well-sheltered from enemy attacks that manage to penetrate the Draken's defenses. Access is via the "Yellow-Door" deck, through the radiation-safety airlock. There is also a backup power generator in case of emergency, powerful enough to operate life support and basic electronics.

- 1 Slipspace Drive. Another treasure the Draken hides, this gravity-fed, "Mass Effect" engine can propel the ship in a straight path from 0 m/s to max speed in about 3-5 seconds. Make sure to turn the *Artificial Gravity* control group off before activating the Slipspace Drive, or your path will curve slightly upward. Warning: while the Draken can reach max speed in seconds, he's still a heavy ship compared to fighter and corvette classes. Make sure you have enough time to come to a stop, or you might end up performing an involuntary crash-test.

Anyway, the UNSC needs more valuable captains out there, so get to your ship and good hunting!

Any orbital drop shock pods?

This looks nice, but its a shame that other people have stolen your work

Sadly doesn't load anymore. One of my favorites in the day.

I like it's design, very nice. Now, only if I had this game, then I'd subscribe to it, big time!

Yeah I would much rather see an updated version with no mods vs with mods... any ship release in 2017 would be far better than a 2014 ship... no offense I get it... people get busy and unmotivated... still would make my day to see a updated one :)

@Big-Red I completely understand and that was a while back and I realized just how good of a ship it was since then mods or no mods :)

@Thu'umel Corvo I've thought of doing that if I get back into Space Engineers. Haven't had the time ever since I started my career IRL, though. :(

In my opinion (So you don't have to) an updated vanilla would be better than mods just so you don't have to make sure you have the mods activated every time you wanna use this ship

Someone built a Strident-Class Heavy Frigate Already.

This is #7 when you search UNSC and select all time raitings... why isn't this being updated?
