1976 Piper Cherokee 'Cruiser' PA-28-140

Description
The Piper Cherokee 'Cruiser' PA-28-140 is the first and smallest in a series of aircraft produced by the Piper Aircraft Corporation starting in 1964. While originally offered with several different engine sizes, later versions were only fitted with a 150hp engine. They are great aircraft for training new pilots, and are a cheap and affordable option for first time aircraft owners. Hundreds of them can still be found flying today around the world, a credit to their simple and rugged construction.

This rendition of the Cherokee Cruiser is of a late model version that (despite the name) would have been fitted with a stock 150hp engine, giving it the ability to carry 4 passengers and full fuel tanks. Like the real Cherokee Cruiser it has great stall characteristics and is great for either sightseeing, traveling cross country, or learning to fly in-game.

Specifications:

Range (0.75 Throttle): 120Km+
Range (1.00 Throttle): 55Km+/-
Top Speed: 165+ MPH
Passenger Capacity: 4

Notes:
  • The Fuel Selector DOES NOT have the ability to draw fuel from both tanks simultaneously, so you must monitor and select each fuel tank individually
  • In level flight the aircraft will automatically attempt to keep the wings level, this was done to arrest some of the roll induced by engine torque
  • To the Pilot's left there is a 'Power Chart' that displays the recommended throttle setting for each regime of flight
  • To un-cage the Artificial Horizon you must press the small gray 'button' located on the screen (reference the screenshots above for it's location)
  • Should it be required, to the Pilot's far left is an Emergency Location Transmitter (ELT)
  • Located in the back of the cabin there is a First Aid kit hidden in the bulkhead, just above the 'paint block' designed to look like it's namesake.
  • The communications equipment is designed to be used with PenguinO's awesome Air Traffic Control (ATC) addons, available here: https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1775692845

BIG thanks to Sir_Murtak who offered his always valuable advice to help make this aircraft better!

Dylanboi, thanks for the nice comment! Vindication from people who use the real deal always makes me happy!
As for the flaps, if you think a lever would be more appropriate I can try that.
I think the original reason I went with the buttons was the flaps had set positions rather fluid movement throughout their range, the buttons are smaller, and easier to use 'on the fly' (so to speak).
But I can give it a try, this aircraft is in desperate need of an upgrade after the pressure updates anyway.

AMAZING as someone who fly s the pa-28 this is a great remake however missed the trim wheel between the seats and could try (i know its easier said then done) but make the flaps lever rather than button arrows

Havoc_Hawk, if you open it in the editor and "poke around" you can see how the shapes slide into place once the aircraft is spawned. Hope that helps, and good luck with your build!

What did you do to create the tail design cause I would love to know how to do that.

victrooQc, the gear on the PA-24's are fixed, you might be mistaking it with the Piper Arrow. Sorry to disappoint. :steamsad:

ayesian, thanks for the comments, they are much appreciated, and I'm glad you're enjoying the aircraft! I only chose the registration number as it is my birthday and the first initial of my name, Jerry. I had no idea it was connected to a crashed aircraft til now :steamfacepalm:

but as a piper cherokee pilot, i am pleased that it is very realistic! especially the window vent thing on the left window, i really didn't think anyone would get that down
