Type 45 Destroyer - HMS Dauntless

Description
Based on the British Royal Navy's Type 45 Destroyer, HMS Dauntless.

Description

HMS Dauntless is the second ship of the Daring class. Together, the Royal Navy’s six Type 45 Destroyers are among the most advanced warships ever constructed.

What really sets the Daring class apart is its versatility. Outside of her air defence role, HMS Dauntless has the ability to carry out a huge range of war-fighting and constabulary duties, from counter-narcotics boarding operations, acting as a task group flagship or providing humanitarian aid and disaster relief.

Can be spawned in normal dockyards and designed with frame friendliness in mind. Ideally will have 2 to 3 crew members, but can be operated solo. Requires infinite ammo.

The ship has been designed into 5 longitudinal watertight compartments with the following simulated/replicated
  • Full compliment of weaponary(as above), navigational and Emergency control systems controlled in the Combat Information Centre (CIC)
  • Navigational Bridge, with autopilot, lights(Nav, Interior and Red), alarm, Roll Stabiliser Control and Telegraph control which can be transferred from Engine Room. Repeaters for Radar, Sonar and Map.
  • Engine Control Room with individual and integrated engine controls, Electrical Switchboard, Bunkering and Generator Controls.
  • Fire Control and Bilge Pump space for running fire fighting systems and Flooding control systems. Also contains Fuel cut-off Swtiches.
  • Steering Gear Flat with local rudder control system.
  • Array of cabins, Bunk spaces, Toilet/Showers. (C/O and C/E Cabin at forward).
  • Messroom and Galley
  • Gymnasium
  • Laundry
  • Ship's Hospital
  • Armoury
  • Smoking Room with TV, Music Radio
  • Refuelling stations on Port/Starboard main deck for both Jet Fuel and Diesel engines
  • Hangar and Flight Deck, with Helicopter refuelling capability inside hangar. Contains a RHIB for deployment via Gantry through side hatches.
  • Towing Capability at the Stern with local controls

Instructions

Power and Propulsion Systems Operation (To Start):
  1. Enter the Engine Control Room(ECR) from the after hatch or the Bridge and through the ship
  2. In the ECR, switch on all circuit breakers. (Important ones are Main Power, Lights and Ship Systems initially)
  3. The battery will begin to drain fairly quick, so find Gen 1 below the breakers. Switch on Pumps/Valves button, crack open throttle a little and hit Gen 1 Start. Once green light is on, can apply full throttle and open Clutch to provide power. (1 generator is enough to power all ship systems at any time, you can alternate generators for realism)
  4. Go to the screen at the back of the ECR and switch on. This will show you if the batteries are charging and fuel level. Left Screen is Diesel fuel for the generators an Diesel Main Engines and Right screen shows quantity for Jet Fuel, used in the Gas Turbine.
  5. To Start, go to the main forward console, there are 3 monitors. The outer 2 control the two Diesel Engines and the middle controls the Gas Turbine. To start any engine, turn on Fuel Pumps/Valves button. Ensure Clutch/Throttle is closed and then hit Start button. Once spooled up, you can increase throttle and then open clutch to move the ship
  6. As a note, I normally run one diesel until clear of the dock, then start Diesel no.2 until clear of the island. Once in open water, I start the gas turbine, go to the bridge, turn on the stabilisers and transfer engine control to the bridge (making sure clutch/throttle on bridge is fully open before doing so). It easier if you have a 2 man crew to manage bridge and ECR simultaneously. A 3rd person allows the CIC to be manned for weapon and Emergency system controls.
  7. A known issue, if Gas Turbine fails to start initially or after shut down, it may get damaged by careless operation. To rectify, check ignition and fuel pump valves are off with clutch/throttle closed. Take a welding torch and repair the Air Intake at the bottom of the engine and then follow that with repairing the Jet Turbines and occasionally the compressor. Then attempt a restart as described above. Parameters for safe operation are built into the Throttle and a PID and so you can put it to max, but still, start the Gas Turbine slowly with clutch closed initially

Navigation Systems Operation:
  1. Before attempting to steer on any mode, ensure roll stabiliser fins are activated on the bridge.
  2. Manual helm steering can be controlled from the Bridge Helm position
  3. Secondary Helm control from the Steering Gear Room where you can locally take control.
  4. For autopilot Steering, go to the Combat Information Centre (CIC) and switch on the Chart table. Press "WP" on the monitor and plot out your waypoints for the intended route. Once complete, push "Go". Go to the bridge and if all is clear around the vessel, switch on autopilot to engage and follow the route.
  5. Sonar can be operated from the CIC and can be activated by pushing the button and then pressing the screen. It can identify/track surface and underwater targets up to 3km. There is a repeater on the Bridge.
  6. Radar can be operated from the CIC and identify/track surface and air targets up to 10km.

Weapons Systems Operation:
  1. All weapons are controlled from the CIC. There are 2 manual 50. caliber stations on the top deck which can be controlled only locally from the handle.
  2. Missiles - Sit in the seat, ensuring the target is within 30 degrees relative port and starboard (in a 60 degree cone from the bow). Arm the missiles and then push the toggle button to fire. There are 4 missiles, that are fired in sequence using above procedure.
  3. Phalanx operation - Manual Operation/Auto Operation. To operate manually, sit in the seat and turn the activate key. Select manual fire and use. To operate automatically, turn activate key. Select searching, radar and auto fire. The phalanx will now actively track and engage targets.
  4. Main gun - BE CAREFUL TO SET STABILISATION PRIOR TO SAILING AS CAN GLITCH, SPIN AND WIPE OUT THE MISSILE BAY

Emergency Systems Operation:
  1. Watertight Doors - Controlled from CIC, lower black panel
  2. Fire Fighting and Suppression - Main Pump and heat sensors controlled from CIC. Sprinkler for Engine Machinery space controlled locally in ECR or Fire/Bilge station.
  3. Bilge Pumps - Controlled from CIC or Fire/Bilge Station
  4. Emergency Gen - Controlled from weather deck on stbd side, behind bridge
  5. Fuel Cut-off - Controlled from Fire/Bilge Station

is it just me or does the boat flip over when you spawn it in

The main gun also appears to glitch when you set it to radar assist. It endlessly rotates. Quite odd

In the Newest Update, the Boat when starting it up revs all the way and blows up the engines. I followed all instructions and it just keeps blowing up

TheBuilder1890 - Really glad that you like it, thanks for the feedback.

Der Doktor - Thanks, appreciated. There is engine cut off button in the engine control room, just switch off the valves. In the Fire/Bilge station across from the hospital, there are fuel cut off switches for both the jet and diesel engines.

Hi, first of all realy good creation. Your realy talented. Secondly: pls add a button to shut down all engines. They wont turn down.
