Introduction & Contents
This mod was created to give additional "flavor" and balance to the Roman faction through editing existing mechanics or adding new ones to its buildings, government types, and its faction effects. It was first intended for personal use, but now I've decided to upload it to the workshop so people can try it out. This mod will first only apply a few changes to Roman buildings, but gradually expand to include various other tweaks as time goes on.

The changes are as follows:
  • Level 3 and 4 variants of the Roman special capital building chain has been rebalanced to so commercial isn't an obvious choice every game. Commercial Rome now locally reduces Roman culture a lot, and also increases public order penalties from slavery by 15~25%. Normal Rome instead receives 2~4 Roman culture, whilst Fortified Rome receives 1~2 recruitment rank for Roman infantry.
  • Level 3 and 4 variants of the Roman provincial capital building chain has been given similar changes. Commercial capitals locally reduce Roman culture by a moderate amount, and increases public order penalties from slavery by 10~15%. Normal capitals receive 1~2 Roman culture whilst Fortified capitals receive up to -10% local upkeep cost for garrisoned units.
  • Level 2 to 4 variants of the Roman public arena building chain as well as the special Colosseum building now gives the local province 5~20% bonus slavery gdp.
  • Roman barracks are now slightly more expensive to maintain, but in return have increased banditry reduction. Auxiliary barracks on the other hand gives 1~2 Roman culture at levels 3 and 4.
  • The Roman Republic government type now has two additional effects. A 15% increase to public order penalties due to slavery, and +2 recruitment slots to the capital province.
  • The Roman Empire government type now has -5 factionwide banditry reduction, +10% trade tariffs and +20% cost for political actions.

The features of this mod will be expanded upon as time goes on, and everything is open to change. If you have any suggestions or grand ideas feel free to share them below.

Installation & Compatibility
  • To install, first subscribe to this mod, and place this mod above the 3 DEI parts in the mod launcher.
  • If you have other submods for DEI which you want to play with, simply place this mod over them as well to make sure the changes within this mod override them all. If you want to play this mod with my other submods, also place this mod on top of them.
  • This mod is save game compatible, and will likely be compatible with all future versions of DEI. I will update this mod should the combat system of vanilla DEI be overhauled once more.
  • Although this mod will be multiplayer compatible, multiplayer in R2 is often a very buggy process that I will not be able help much should it become an issue. All I can say regarding this is make sure both parties have the identical setup and mod load order when attempting multiplayer.

Credits
All of the texts and entries used in making this submod are not my original work, and are credited to the DEI team.
I have merely rearranged & edited existing content from DEI and the R2 native files to create this submod.
Seriously, go make a donation for DEI or something. The project deserves it.
