Commonwealth Armed Merchant Glencoe

Pressed into service for the Commonwealth, Steamship Glencoe is ready for war!

Defensively Equipped Merchant Ships (D.E.M.S) were vital to maintaining supply lines to England during world war 2. Glencoe represents an outfit that an English Commonwealth ship might receive between 1939-1945
So get out there and support the war effort under the “Red Duster”

Armament:
• 2x 20 mm Oerlikon
• 1x QF 3 inch (76 mm)/50 caliber gun
• 1x QF 4.7 inch Naval Gun

Aside from the new guns the ship is now equipped with 2 new Carley Life Rafts

Engines have been tuned up and the ship will now go 15.5 knots at full steam.

I have Linked the Reciprocating Engine to speed up slow down and reverse based on RPM so the engine will be more realistic.

I have added a new portable pump with connections in both cargo holds and the engine room.
You can move it where you need it and pump out more water. The pump can also act as fire fighting gear.

The Captain’s desk now hides a pistol and magazine.

Access hatches now allow access to the back of the boilers to fix damage
Access hatches have been added outboard of the steering control room to repair hull damage outboard.

If cold water gets to the hot boilers, they will now explode. (a good target for hunters)

My grandfather was a Gunners Mate 2nd class (20 mm cannons) on a Liberty Ship (US Naval Armed Guard) so this update is dedicated to Him.

S.S. Glencoe is a coal steamship based off a heavily modified version of M.V Manorbier.
I have tried to make this as role player friendly as possible. I've taken the time to label everything to minimize confusion. please let me know if you find something that i should fix. This ship will be updated a lot as it is more or less my creative outlet.

Change Notes

Boilers will be snuffed out by water
Total electrical failure if water gets to the electrical panel (lights and equipment flicker and go out)
Boilers and electrical can be restored by pumping out water
Added Gangway and backup generator

Both forward and aft hatches will break off.
for the hatches to break off you need to have the scuttling valve open for the corresponding compartment.
if you want both to break off you need to open both scuttling valves.
an electric cable will keep the hatch on the ship until you disconnect it. (i cant make it detach or i would)
Detached hatches will float. (don't ever let go jack) lol

Scuttling valves are located forward under the 3rd officers stateroom. access hatch on the floor.
Aft valve is in the Sick Bay under the bed.

Engine Info:
She will carry roughly 1400 coal in her main engine bunkers and can make 15.5 knots empty when Tuned.
This ship can be handled by one person but at least 2 is recommended (mainly to feed the boilers and run the engine room)
There is no propulsion control on the bridge. This is intentional because this was how it was done. you can communicate to the engine room via the touch controlled telegraph. There is also a communication circuit to talk to your engineer.
If you want to just enjoy this ship i recommend infinite fuel (otherwise you will have to load coal into the boiler every 20 min or so)
This ship can be refueled from the coal bunker access on both sides. The lever to open the hatch is topside on the aft deck.
If you run low on steam use the forward freshwater fill tank to top off your Steam fill tanks. Hose connectors are topside forward and aft.
