Description:
This Rebalance will add different ways to obtain building knowledge. Right now it is on its initial release so it only has a single feature right now which is described below in the overview. Feedback is welcomed.

Overview:
  • When Ships and Stations are destroyed they have a chance to drop Knowledge Fragments.
  • Fragments can be combined to create the building knowledge.
  • They can only drop fragment types based on the designs/block materials on the ship/station.
  • The Fragments CAN be traded.
  • The Fragments CAN be used from the Alliance Inventory.
  • The Fragments CAN be sold for cash.

No idea why but I only get Tier 2 fragments now. It was working fine in the beta, but now it does not. I am deep in Nanonite territory and still only tier two.

This is really annoying, once you unlock building knowledge. the item what drops should be disabled from dropping ever again for you. it takes space and lags the inventory with hundreds of these . im sorry but im unsubscribing from this and never useing it again its more annoying than anything, i dont recommend this mod, just get your build knowledge normal way, this is just Inventory spamm and makes you be like "oh blue item dropped" oh its again this crappy item i have thousands of them allready. jeesus christ i hate this mod so much i dont recommend this to anyone. dont use it. unsubscrive from this inventory spamm mod

I have a few updates I want to do with this mod.

The real important thing about this mod most people miss, or don't notice, is that you can trade them to other players. If you have new people join an alliance you can just give them the fragments. They aren't bound to your account. Never made sense that you join an alliance and not share knowledge with other players.

As stated before, with the changes to how to aquire the knowledge, these are really just a small amount of extra money taking up inventory space.

If the number required was 10-20 it would be handy, but the time it takes to get even 10 of them you can clear out several pirate sectors with just a single decently armed ship.

While I really like the idea of these they don't seem that useful for actually getting the knowledge.

In the time it takes to get the knowledge this way I could have done any of the other methods a few times over. Especially if I happen to have a high level hacking module from the Black Market DLC.

Honestly I mostly end up using them for a tiny bit of extra credits when I sell them.

The only way I can really see them being useful is if you are unable to get the knowledge through most if not all normal means for example due to a modded game.

So how far are potential new drop rates and is it possible to buy them ?
SDK  [author] 8 Nov, 2021 @ 10:40pm
I'll take a look at the drop rates and see if they need to be adjusted.

I'm also looking at adding them for sale at shipyards, equipment docks, and repair yards in small amounts.

I really like the concept of this mod, but when used the ships and stations mod that makes enemies much stronger it takes too long to get drops. It appears to require 100 drops to get from Titanium to Naonite which is too much when it takes 5 minutes to blow up an enemy ship that only *might* drop 1 of these.

You mention adding in additional ways to get these and that would be the most obvious solution. Make it so that 3 of one tier can be turned into 1 of the next tier at a research station, allow them to be purchasable in shipyards in small amounts, make special stashes that drop them or a unique asteroid type that drops them, or have a mission which gives them.

And/Or, tune the station and ships mod so that the enemies are much less bulky so you can simply acquire these faster
