Jurassic Moon

Description
A jungle where it’s always night. Whispers of a second Blood Moon that rises alongside its sister, bringing forth strange horrors in the jungle. Most importantly, tales of gold beyond imagination.

A prospect too tempting for the four members of your expedition. You and the other players set sail for the mystical jungle of Lunasica. Each of you with a different reason to backstab each other for the same white-hot greed.

Welcome to Jurassic Moon.

A competitive 4-player game set in the pulp comics of the past.
Explore through the jungle acquiring treasures and gold, the player with the most at the end wins!

Update 3/7:
Massive Balance update after some extensive testing. Finales have been removed. Larry now simply enters an ultimate form that levels up as the game goes on. A final win state of the first player to the Bazaar with 35 gold has been added.

Players now drop all treasures and items at the space they were knocked out at.

All equipment is now tooltipped to make it easier to read at a distance.

Numerous cards have had text simplified or clarified.

The Luger has been added to the base game and the Talisman has been removed for reworking.

The expansion now adds a few more event cards, and a new item: Tesla Trap. It is used to booby trap tiles to hurt the other players of the expedition!

Update 3/5:
Added more event placements, the treasure bag is now scripted to auto shuffle. The Talisman has been buffed to allow you to move the Moon Marker down by 1 if you wish to keep exploring without Larry crashing the party.

Update 3/2: New Expansion! Moonmen and the Madman!

Adds 30 new event cards, 2 new characters, 3 new Equipment to use and 3 new Finales!
The box for the expansion is located on the table section near Nickelmaine. Just add to the core game and you're all set!

This expansion adds a madman named Doctor Verleumden to the jungle. He is researching the ancient civilizations that came before and the aliens that contacted them. By doing so he's attracted the attention of the enemies from the stars! Aliens who need the same gold you seek to power their empire from beyond the black curtain! Robots, Mutants, and an all consuming Blob will try and stop you from getting the gold.

You've never been one to back away from a fight, have you?

Update 2/20: Added some quality of life changes. The tooltips on hit dice and Larry/Harry will now display the proper result. Each player now as a gold stash so it is now much easier to keep track of how much gold you and other players have at a glance.

Update 9/19: Clarified Larry's movement, and added 13 more Moon Marker Cards.

Update 9/26: After some playtesting, I've made some larger changes to the game.
-New Board image that makes it clear that Smuggler's Passage is a 2-Tile path from Caves to Waterfall (Follow the Red Line)
-New Board also adds more paths and moves the Bazaar to a more central location so that buying items is more appealing.
-Added 30+ Cards that add gold to the game. More Gold will make it easier for players to keep it competitive.
-Larger Gold! Feels more like you are amassing a small pile of wealth when your coins are larger.
-Clarified the Egg finale. Eggs will NOT hatch when they are in your inventory.
-Larry can now cross the river via the Smuggler's Passage. This prevents players from camping one side and not risking going back to the jungle. He cannot enter the Bazaar. Must be all the torches.
-You can now spend a shotgun charge to force another player to gamble half their wealth.
-Added ambient music!

Thanks for playing everyone, and continue to leave feedback and I'll keep working to refine it.

This is my second board game for TTS

Thanks for the feedback. Its very much a work in progress, but I will take those notes into consideration.

I'll add more advancement cards for the moon, I just didn't want to steamroll ahead through the game and have the players miss out on some of the possible event cards.

I was pretty sure I had it in the manual that Larry moves towards the nearest player but if it isn't, then I will definitely add it!

Thanks for playing guys, you make it worth all the work! <3

(part 2)
All in all, we decided it was a fun game and we would love to play it again, but it needs some work. One of the major problems I noticed was that with the gold as both the currency AND winning conditions, was that near the end you either could take a risk, invest in some stuff and hunt for even more gold or simply just wait it out and possibly win through that.

I get that the drive of the game is to gather as much gold as possible, but that requires some serious recklessness and risk-taking from the players, which, at least as soon as Larry enters, is just not worth it anymore. And continuing to play until we are blessed with an event card that advances the moon, OR basically die on purpose, seems more like we're just waiting for it to finally end.

Anyway, I hope that my feedback will help. Would love to play again but not without some tweaking.

Hey, just played this game with my friends and it was really fun in the beginning, but towards the midpoint we started to get a bit stumped. We got to the Jurassic Moon eventually, but when Larry spawned, we didn't know to what direction he moves. We were also unaware if he can cross the river or go through the Smuggler's Passage, we just assumed he could until we found out in the Harry VS Larry ending that he can't. After we got to the Jurassic Moon there we also ended up stuck, because the moon simply didn't advance. None of the cards we drew advanced it and we weren't stupid enough to go back to where Larry was until we just looted the entire place. So we were kinda just waiting for something to happen until we decided to advance to the finale as nothing was happening. But when we got the Finale, it also didn't really end up mattering as we all were at least near the Bazaar and left before anything really happened.

Some feedback:
- We know Larry moves X movements, but which way does he go?
- What if I don't want to (or can't) take any actions on my turn? Suggest rolling for a chance to heal for all action points?
