Lanfang: The First Asian Republic

Description
A new day dawns for the people of Lanfang.

In 1887, the Lanfang Republic, a tributary state of the Qing Empire, one of the first democracies in Asia, had survived death by the hands of the Dutch. As peace was signed in the Treaty of Singapore, Lanfang transformed itself from a simple nation made up of mining companies into a fully fledged democracy, worthy of the title many onlookers had given to it. Once a simple mining colony born out of imported workers by Sultanates, it soon rapidly modernized at a rate so fast that it nearly rivals the industrial might of the minor powers of Europe.

As the turn of the century came and went, as Lanfang found freedom in the aftermath of the Xinhai Revolution on the Chinese mainland, as the Great War passed, Lanfang found itself pursuing isolation more and more in the face of growing foreign interests. The Dutch, once fearful of German aggression in Europe, seeks to crush Lanfang once and for all. China, having collapsed and rebuilt itself in the aftermath of the Xinhai Revolution, seeks to rebuild ties with Lanfang. And Lanfang, a relatively new cornerstone of democracy, is itself starting to crack under pressure by extremists.

With president Hu Hanmin at the forefront of politics for nearly six years, despite having withdrawn from much of his duties in face of his growing health issues, isolation is what many believe will continue until the end of the thirties. However, as his protégé calls for the need to open the markets to the west, with democratic opposition seeking to align with the western powers, and with extremists seeking to change and greatly expand Lanfang's role in Asia, isolation may never be truly found again.

Lanfang may never be the same after the thirties.

Features
  • Five years of content for Republican, Communist, and Fascist paths.
  • An increase in the number of states in Indonesia and Malaya.
  • An easy to understand parliament and election system just for the republican path.
  • Multiple paths for both fascism and communism.
  • An integrated history system to learn about Lanfang during your playthrough.
  • Dozens of events and decisions designed to keep you engaged in the development of the nation into the forties.
  • Hundreds of focuses, with a dynamic focus tree that changes through your decisions.

This mod primarily adds content to a single nation, Lanfang, but changes to other nations, such as the Dutch East Indies, British Malaya, and Guangxi, are added in the context of this alternative history scenario.

Compatibility
Currently, the game version this mod works on is any 1.11 version.

While this is a single nation mod, it does alter some content with other nations while also altering the map. Mods that change the map in non-cosmetic ways or add states may be incompatibile. Mods that add content to Indonesia/the Dutch East Indies, Malaysia, China, Japan, the Netherlands, and in some cases generic nations, may be incompatibile. Mods that add more formable nations may also be at risk of incompatibility. Outside of that, there shouldn't be much of an issue.

Bugs
While I tried to ensure that this mod was bug free before release, please do report any bugs you may find in the comment section, and I will be sure to fix them as quickly as possible. Using mods that mention anything in the aforementioned Compatibility section may lead to more bugs; use other mods at your own risk.

Feedback
Any and all feedback related to the mod is appreciated, but please do try to be simply constructive if you have any criticisms on the mod. Feedback that can be considered rude or irrelevant will simply be ignored.

How do you get the democratic party to win the 1936 election?

Something I noticed. In the Industrial Concern, the LGG is labeled the "National Broadcasting Company". National Broadcasting Company translates to Quánguó Guǎngbò Gōngsī (QGG); I think it should be Federal Broadcasting Company (Liánbāng Guǎngbò Gōngsī).

@Mo_14 If you push into the DEI and past West Kalimantan you should seize the state. I think that's the furthest you can go, but if you get Kalimantan you can get Sarawak in 1940 when you join the Allies.
