@Motorhomegirl14 [UK] I know a retired Class 37 driver, and he commented that he thought the AP37 Vol 1 was too quiet in the cab. It turned out he mostly drove unrefurbished examples. Your comments about noise remind me of anecdotes about Deltic drivers, some of whom suffered hearing damage as a result of driving them daily.

Interesting !! Well ! They certainly wasn't when I was working on them, they must have quietened them down since I have been retired.

@Motorhomegirl14 [UK] Based on my personal experience on the lineside (and conversations with drivers) the GWR examples had soundproofed cabs. MTU engines are also a lot quieter than Valentas based on my own sound recordings.

A good run. A timetable, and (perhaps) some adverse signals would have been nice. Saying that the traffic seemed about right for that time of night. However there were some wierdly positioned freight trains though.

Engine sound in cab very low, turned up volume In-Game and speakers, didn't make much difference. Actually drove these HST's in real life when I was a Driver at paddington, they certainly weren't that quiet in the cab, although, most of us would have wished they were.
