Description
v1.4 and onwards
Fellow creators took care of this mod and made a framework that supports 1.4 fully, improves the trees and accepts different texture packs. From now on, use these mods instead:

Old description
Have you ever thought that vanilla trees are... just meh? Trees in real life make you feel insignificant; they tower above the most and are a symbol of a long life and stability. And there is no reason they shouldn't be as such in Rimworld, especially when you make a 5-cell wall from one short piney.

This mod does the following:
  • Replaces the textures of all the wild vanilla trees with new ones, more detailed and 512x512 size (some are 1024x1024)
  • Changes the size range and drawing layer of these trees, so that they tower above buildings and rocks. Young and grown-up trees have a more striking size difference.
  • Changes thingClass of the vanilla and some modded trees to make a transparency effect on mouse over, to ease looking through the jungles.
  • Changes graphicClass to Graphic_Single.
  • Tints vanilla lichen-covered and regular soil in green a bit. (Can be turned off in mod's settings.)
  • Adds a special see-through mode to hide trees under cursor, or on the whole map. Can be turned on/off in the bottom-right corner, and can also be tweaked in Options -> More Mod Settings -> CoMiGo's Majestic Trees.

The mod does not change gameplay values in any way; it is a purely cosmetic mod that has no impact on game balance.

Steve from Rimworld Discord server and comrade Issue pushed me in the right direction while making the C# thingy (the transparent tree effect). I'm grateful for that.

Directly supported mods with custom textures:
  • ReGrowth: Aspen Forests
  • Alpha Biomes (Ocular Forests exclusively)

Compatible with (without custom textures):
  • Dubs Mint Menus (And don't bother me with errors coming from 3rd mods. Menus do work for me and others.)
  • Vanilla Textures Expanded (my textures and settings take over theirs)
  • Vanilla Plants Expanded
  • VGP Vegetable Garden (has a patch for bamboo)

Incompatible with:
  • Vanilla Furniture Expanded: Props and Decorations or something. The one that allows building fake trees and other junk. This is fixable.
  • Any other mod that changes the thingClass of vanilla trees. Most of the mods that add/change trees don't do that.

Can you add support for a mod called X?
Maybe, yet I, most likely, won't. I may or may not make patches that fix issues with some popular and trusted mods, though.

Creating patches and/or textures takes time and nerves for analysing other mods, preparing the code, and actually drawing the textures. And I'm not interested in doing such kind of free job for mods that I don't need or for those that don't need big trees at all (like any farming trees). If I wanted something to look Majestic ✨, I had already done that.

Support for {outdated-rimworld-version-here}?
No. I don't write software for deprecated versions, and no one should.

Is it savegame compatible?
Safe to add at any time.
To remove? Who knows.

Can I fork this mod? What's the license?
Until I decide otherwise, I retain all the rights for this mod and allow you to use it for personal needs only. This means that you can not make and upload a fork or use my code/assets in other projects. No yoinking.
If you have special needs, write me.

Why a custom thingClass and not a Harmony patch?
To make things as optimized and FPS-friendly as possible.

I think I found a bug. What should I do?
— Make sure it occurs in vanilla. If it doesn't, time to clean up your pile of 350+ mods of questionable quality.
— Take a screenshot, error log, steps to reproduce, everything. The latter is extremely important: if I cannot reproduce a bug, I cannot help you.
— If you have an issue connected to some other mod, the best way to find the needed one is to bisect the list of mods, restart repeatedly, and narrow the number of mods that affect the issue. Yes, proper troubleshooting is not a piece of cake.

Is the mod compatible with X?
Let me consult my crystal orb… Some stardust to increase oracle powers, yea… 🔮 🔮 🔮 🔮 🔮 Ok, the orb tells me the following: go test it by yourself. Also, you are a lumberfoot. Yes, it is written right inside the orb, can't you see?

Is the mod compatible with Combad Extended?
Noooo, how would you think of thaaat? Trees disarm colonists and raiders alike, take their guns and go onto rampage until they are out of ammo, after which they explode.

CE compatible?
Get out.

Tree clipping is a vanilla bug. I can do nothing about it.
At least with my current skillset. My speculation is that a vertex shader used with trees lifts the upper vertices, but it isn't done proportionally to the size of the sprite. Having small trees behind large ones will reproduce this graphical issue — and you can see it in vanilla, too.
Write to Tynan's team, shortly, lol.

Some people have problems when using Majestic Trees with Dubs Mint Menus and other mods. (X-files theme plays here)
Yet their issues could not be replicated. Obviously it is a conflict with some 3rd mod. The Majestic Trees are compatible and tested with Vanilla Plants Expanded and VGP Vegetable Garden, so they are not to blame. I, the author, use Dubs Mint Menus and a hundred of other mods and observe no problems.

@roguekrieg, there's a more refined mod based on CMT: Majestic Foliage Framework[HH] and it have Comigo's textures as a separate module: Majestic Foliage - Comigo's Original

Now THAT is a forest!!!!! Thank you for this awesome mod. with vanilla trees, i can go months in game without noticing a tree growing right in front of a door, or right on the other side of an embrasure. Excellent mod!!:steamthumbsup: *works just fine for 1.4
