V-1923 Locomotive

Locmotive V-1923 was built by Vulcan Ironworks under contract with the US Armed Forces. The contract ordered 382 narrow-gauge, oil-burning switching locomotives, and production began in 1942. Locomotives of this same make were used post-war in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and in Africa, and were built by Davenport, Porter, and Vulcan.
Locomotive V-1923 was delivered to Fort Eustace in 1945, and was used as a student training vehicle from 1953 to 1959 at the Transportation School.
