Zombie Classic Model Prefab

Description
About
This prefab contains an essentially 1:1 recreation of the zombie_classic.vmdl which creators can utilize in their own addons or maps.

Installation

1. Subscribe to the addon

2. Locate the addon vpk
VPK located in .../Steam/steamapps/workshop/content/546560/2560661776
Note:If you cannot locate the folder try launching HL:A or checking the download queue in Steam.

3. Open the VPK with VRF [vrf.steamdb.info] or GCFScape [nemstools.github.io]

4. Extract the VPK's Contents

5. Read the readme.txt included to finish installation

Uses
  • Add a custom model to zombies
  • Add custom animations to the zombie
  • Alter the animgraph to create a newly behaving zombie
  • And whatever you want to do with it!

  • All 416 animations related to scripted sequences and gameplay
  • Every Zombie model along with its own LODs for optimal performance
  • All animevents for gameplay and sequence animations
  • All attachments and hitboxes
  • And much more!

@Desyld Yup... painstaking process for sure but extracting 1 by 1 though S2FM does indeed bring root motion along with it.

So wait, did you have to recreate every single instance of root motion or what. Because I actually wanted to do this for jeff, and my only hurdle is I don't want to remake root motion data since I've never been able to extract animations with it.

@baerenserbe I don't believe so, but making it isn't all too hard if you can find a model and then re-rig it to the zombie's armature (or use your own anims, since you could do that too) Sky really is the limit when it comes to this tool. Some routes require more work than others (new anims mostly) so it'd be best for you to evaluate which approach you would like to and possibly can take, and then going through with that,

thank you very much for your effort @paradox!!! has someone made a zombie model which isnt so scary? i want to use it for my blops map, i will donate a coffe or more. maybe a model which is cartoony funny

@Luckyno if you follow the install instructions properly, you can put down npc_zombie just fine. It just overrides the model, not the entity.

I can spawn it as a generic_actor, but generic_actor is for scripted events. Is there any way to use this zombie model to replicate a normal npc_zombie behaviour? I'm new to modding source so there's probably something obvious that I'm missing. Should I spawn it as a generic actor and link some script or animgraph to it to make it have AI?

I kinda gave up on it so I might try using the Combine or try to make an actual custom NPC instead.
