Boxy McBoxface VTOL Mk2

Description
Easy-to-use VTOL.
Now with less lurch!

  • Multi-role Twin-Medium-Diesel VTOL
  • Variable VTOL-mode... e.g. 0.1 mode is good for Medi-ship landing approach.
  • Cost ~50k
  • Light on fuel.
  • Cruising speed: 280km/h
  • Autopilot (Screen controllable - now also supports way-point entry from map via keypad)
  • Height-hold (hold current height; works in Heli, Plane or in-between modes)
  • Position-hold (Switch on from HUD - Autopilot will engage Pos-hold when it reached it's target)
  • Push-to-talk radio
  • Remote-control (Heli-flight, ramp and harness controls - see info above where it is stored for button assignments)
  • Radar ( range : 5km ) (Tap top right number on the navigation screen to switch screens, radar is screen "2")
  • Controller and Rescue harness with remote-controllable winch
  • Equipment for various S.A.R, med-evac and fire-fighting missions
  • Seats 18 people (Pilot, Navigator, internal 8 seats plus 8-seat extender module)
  • Polar region ready (Heater will switch on when temp drops below 14)
  • Cable-video feed accessible in screen "3"
  • 740l fuel capacity
  • Suitable for "Helicopter Base" (Coastguard Outpost TTC) starting location.

4-channel Main Screen
Tap (q or e) the top right number on the main screen to switch screens.
  • Systems screen - Diagnostics and tappable extras/overrides. Select "help" for more.
  • AutoPilot Map - Access AP features here. Tap "?" for more.
  • Radar Screen - With adjustable speed/FOV and range. Tap "?" for more.
  • Feed-Screen. Will be blank unless camera-feed enabled module is attached via cockpit anchor.

HUD:
Tap "?" for more.
Position-hold is accessible here and overrides Auto-Pilot and needs to be disengaged before Auto-Pilot will engage.
Tip: Double-tap "P" to disengage Autopilot if you're on another screen.

Autopilot:

Switch to screen "1". Tap on the screen to select a destination, Hold q or e to Pan the map. Tap "A" to engage Auto-Pilot. Position-Hold will engage when you reach your destination. Switch that off by tapping "P" in the HUD. "C" centres the map on you. Zoom-bar is to the left.

You can enter coordinates from the in-game-map by using the key-pad which will select that as a target destination in the A.P screen.

Remote Control:
Same as seat axis-controls for flying
1=Alt-hold toggle,2=Ramp open/close,
Harness Controls:
3=Down,4=Up,5=In,6=Out

NOTE: Only use remote-control on the selected channel and while vehicle is on and only attempt to fly it in Heli-mode.

Firefighting modules:
Medium (hose) and large (water-cannon) fire-fighting modules included... The large one can be controlled via the connector video-feed. Tapping on the screen sets the water-cannon angle.

Suction attachment included for refilling tanks from the sea (Attach with electric-cable via harness pulley - hose attachment can be directly connected to tank/suction pump (Blue connector)).
NOTE: Fluid-pressure bugs: after a sea-water tank has been re-filled then the pressure may drop to 0 after a couple of seconds no matter how powerful the pump - connecting and running the suck and spray pump anchors for a couple of seconds can fix this.

Loading modules:
Remove the harness and the 8-seat extender module first. Use a combination of "Open" and "Loading" ramp modes to load modules. You can use the winch with a cable to help with loading modules some modules. Some modules require power from the connector by the cockpit.

All systems bespoke.

All my creations tend to be works in progress, but should be fully functional when posted. Please report issues in the comments below. Thanks for your attention and please like (if you like the creation).

Credit: Used a slightly modified version of Puipuix's font for HUD and systems screen.

I feel fortunate to have had the space and time and ability to work on these creations while recovering from illness (I'm fine now btw)... and I really just started posting to share my creations with my brother... so its a massive bonus that someone who isn't family or friend appreciated it.

The JET VTOL is also available, although I recommend you empty or delete the drop-tanks in career mode as you lose money on unused external fuel when reclaiming the vehicle.

Thanks again for your attention and overly-high praise.

Thanks.

The Mk2 is not technically part of the Classic Career bundle, but you can try get the techs...

I think you'll also need Large Planes, Compact Robotics, Radar, and Monitors ...
hint : when loading the vehicle in classic mode it will prompt what parts are missing and you should be able to look for those parts in the research screen.

Sorry, taking a break from Stormworks and don't currently have it installed, so can't confirm... you'll have to experiment.

Good luck.

Please try out the update and let me know if your experience is any better, thanks.
Fixes:

* Hud warns if Pos-Hold is on. (Auto-Pilot switches over to Pos-Hold when you get to your destination, you have to switch it off in the HUD (tapping q or e ) or it will feel like you're "stuck")
* Issues with stabilisation being allowed off while pos-hold was on was fixed.
* Lurches when transitioning plane-mode reduced significantly.
* Added sea-water to tank (Sorry, I was testing refilling and accidentally posted that to the WS)

Thanks for the feedback - The fluid pressure issue seems to be a game-related bug - Will test if using custom tanks fixes the issue.
The handling issues are being addressed and I'll post an update soon.

using the small firefighting module, i was able to suck water in, preparing was really difficult, since the helicopter doesn't behave as desired and the firehose likes to pull it into the water, i wanted to extinguish fire, but no water came out, i did connect the fire module to the electric anchor and the hose to the hose connector, sometimes the helicopter likes to do random flip overs and crashes
