If they ever completely refactored how damage is calculated there might be a concern, but they've literally never touched it since the day it came out except to implement a minor nerf on their end.
When 1.5 gets closer I'll revalidate my mods and slap the new tag on them. I'm working on Stardew Valley right now because their 1.6 actually came out, so I'm not super interested in doing a bunch of alpha-testing over here.
But I am getting back into the game, and I mod to add flavor, to increase options but also increase difficulty.
Sometimes, that makes vanilla mechanics.....both harder and easier depending on what. The cannon made things much harder, a little nerf feels fine.
