Description
Maps are now supported in v2.9. However, to make maps already read status, you need to read them after activating or updating to the latest version of this mod. Please take care that in the case of a Mid-Save, you will need to re-read the maps even if you have already read them.

Overview :
Add the unread mark on the book's icon that has not been read or has been read only halfway.
Confirmed to work with Build 41.78 and also work on MP.

Features :
  • Books that have not been read will display the original icon with "?". This includes skill books that are no longer needed at current level.
  • Books that have been read only halfway will display the original icon with "!".
  • Books that have been read completly will display the original icon only.
  • You can mark a book. For example, you can check to see if you got it or not. Marking can be done from the context menu of the target item.

Options :
These options are available with Mod Options.
  • Show "Not Read" mark (?) : Can specify whether to show or hide.
  • Show "Not Completed" mark (!) : Can specify whether to show or hide.
  • Show "Already Read" mark (v) : Can specify whether to show or hide.
  • Show "Not Completed" mark as "Not Read" mark (! -> ?) : Can specify whether to change the display or not.
  • Show "Self Marking" mark (/) : Can specify whether to show or hide.
  • Show "Current Target" mark (o) : Can specify whether to show or hide.
  • Show mark on Map : Can specify whether to show on Map.
  • Show mark on CD : Can specify whether to show on CD.
  • Show mark on VHS : Can specify whether to show on VHS.
  • Show mark on HomeVHS : Can specify whether to show on HomeVHS.
  • Reverse Marking Display : Reverses the display of Self Marking (defaults to all books with Self Marking displayed).

Known Issues :
  • For CD/VHS/HomeVHS, only the "Not Read" mark will be displayed, the "Not Completed" mark will not be displayed at this time and will be treated as unread.

Future plans :
  • Bug fix (if exists)

Remarks :
  • Modded books should also work as long as they comply with the vanilla's book-implementation.
  • To make the map already read, the map must be read after enabling this Mod. Maps read before enabling this Mod will be displayed as not read.
  • You may add it to your mod pack without confirmation and credit. However, please use at your own risk, as I have not been able to verify that it works with SP.
  • Since v1.1, the implementation is very dependent on vanilla code. Therefore, I hope that the function of this Mod will be implemented on the vanilla side in the future.
  • If you were unable to log in to the MP server due to an upgrade of this mod, please try the previous versions by downloading them from "Change Notes".

You are right, books are heavy and I don't want to bring home anything extra..., so this mod's idea came from that!

Sorry for the delay. Did you solve the problem? I don't know the details of the situation, so I can't say for sure, but it's hard to imagine that the book mod will affect your ability to read the book. If you have any additional information, please let me know.

Yes, unfortunately, due to technical issues, it is not perfectly compatible with the AIR mod.

Is it known that this mod has a conflict with alt inventory rendering? If so, ignore me.

Works great for me, but my boyfriend is unable to read books with this mod enabled. Could it be a compatibility issue? He selects read and nothing happens.

Acknowledged. I'd seen the post you've made earlier, looks like this bug might hang a lil while. Good thing the nuisance it caused wasn't that big of a deal lol

And thanks for the time and attention you've devoted into this matter, I shall wait here for any update as well.

I found the cause and posted it in the “Lifestyle” mod, just in case. However, when I looked at the Git Issue, I found that the same issue had been discussed a few months ago, and it had been closed. I don't know if it will be reflected in the next update, but I guess we will have to wait and see.

I know right? Weird indeed, cuz I knew the scav skill mod works similiar to driving one but still the latter being culprit yet the former run flawlessly.

Well I guess we're gotta live with that, it's just a couple of books and other books are normal so nothing serious, still great mod of yours lolol

But now I do suspect could it be the driving and scav mods being too similiar or even one of them somewhat copied from the other? Hence this strange occurence, almost like the game was confused by them duplicated codes.

I have checked and it seems that the “Lifestyle” mod and the “Driving Skill” mod are in conflict. Implementation-wise, there seems to be no problem, but for some reason, when these two mods are enabled at the same time, the “Driving Skill” one is not called to set the SkillBook variable. For example, the “Scavenger Skill” mod, which is a similar skill addition, works fine, but for some reason, only the “Driving Skill” does not work correctly. Nothing seems wrong implementation-wise and I could not find the root cause, sorry.

I think I'd finally pinned the mofo here: it's the lifestyles mod, not the read while walking and searchmodeAPI mod, which is such a shame for has been read and these mods are basically the must-haves for me and my friends, and especially lifestyles for those who love a lil bit of roleplaying.

Weirdly enough, just after I found that and posted here, the bug was back :(((

And I did test the excrementum mod first but excluded it soonly. It seems that this kind of tricky bugs got a new habit to find me lately. I will test some more then post any new discovery here, sorry for the jumpy comment.
