体育西路 Tiyu Xilu

Situated in Guangzhou, a tier-one city in southern China, Tiyu Xilu Station is infamous for its passenger throughput, immense crowds and near-constant passenger flow controls.

Upon completion in 2005, Line 3 became one of the only few metro lines in China to have a branched design. The placement of Tiyu Xilu Station meant that it was not only the branching point of the line, but also an interchange with Line 1, on top of being located in the centre of the CBD.

The failure to predict the amount of passengers in the construction of Line 3 as well as being forced to comply with the central government's policy of "bide your strength, save your money"(量力而行，经济适用), the line chose 6-car trains as its rolling stock to cut back on station costs. The short trains quickly proved insufficient to serve the dense population of the city centre, and the huge crowds garnered the nickname 'Hell Xilu' as a pun in Mandarin. A number of policies such as limiting the passenger flow were put in place to counteract the problem.

Among them is a strategy known as "short trains, high density"（小编组，高密度), which requires the operator to use tight signalling strategies to squeeze in as many trains as possible to handle the immense passenger flow. The added challenge of having a branch line makes for quite interesting dispatching. These strategies were responsible for serving over 844,000 people in a single day in 2017, making it the busiest metro station in the entire country.

With the expected opening of Line 10 in 2025, the branch line is expected to be taken over and merged into the new line. Trains would be redirected to a new station near Tiyu Xilu, deprecating the middle platform and ending the 19-year-long unique branch-line operation mode.

Rail arrangements are based on real tracks, and the scheduling is slightly tweaked to work with the game.
