ATA-55 Hover Tank

As the war kept raging on, the resurgent infantry also kept getting better. Over time they developed an infantry exo skeleton system that was equiped with 12mm thick armor reinforced with kevlar joints that provided excellent protection against standard issue rifles. Energy rifles needed to be used to take down infantry with theese new exoskeleton armor but at the time energy weapons were only available for spec-ops units and as HMG's on the battlefield. The Renation Army quickly built their own version of the armor but did not use it in such a large scale as the Resurgent Army did. Over time better infantry equipment and high velocity rifles were produced to counter this new threat but since the Resurgent Army doctorine depended heavily on infantry combat, the Renation Empire feared that the Resurgent Nation would soon come up with even more powerfull infantry equipment and strategies. Renation Empire only used a couple IFV type models and most of those models were outdated. As a part of their modernisation program they asked the engineers at Golden Legion Industries and Markov Industries to come up with a new IFV design.

Both GLI and Markov came up with their own designs and both designs were presented to the army generals a couple months after. The GLI had came up with the KM-75 which was a tracked vehicle that had a fast firing 75mm gun on top with a secondary 50. cal turret to pin down infantry. Markov Industries came up with a vehicle called IH-1. The IH-1 was lightly armored and was fast for a vehicle of its type. The IH-1 was a wheeled design and had a fast firing cannon on top supported by an anti tank missile platform as secondary armament. In the end the Renation army chose the IH-1 over the KM-75 and produced a few hundred of them. During combat tests the vehicle kept getting immobilised in the though forests of Khale where the vehicle was mostly needed. Also the vehicles complex behavior led to frequent breakdown of the suspension system. The Renation Empire was not impressed by the result and decided to hire both the Markov industries and the GLI industries to come together on a project and build an IFV that can survive the thoughest of terrains.

It took some time for the Golden Legion and the Makarov Industries to decide on a vehicle base due to the incredibly harsh terrain of Khale. Many tracked vehicles wouldnt be able to move in such terrain and wheeled vehicles kept getting stuck in Khale mud. Due to theese reasons engineers of both Industries had to make the hard choice to switch to a hover vehicle rather than a traditional tracked design. They designed their new tank to mow down infantry with ease and also engage light enemy armor. Since Markov Industries were known for manufacturing the best weapons systems out there, they were tasked with designing the tanks main armament, the 55mm anti armor gatling guns while the engineers at the GLI would be working on the chassis and the hover system. The tank took several months to finish but the end result was something totally unexpected.

The new tank, now named the "ATA-55", was armed with dual mounted 55mm anti armor gatling guns. These new weapons were developed spesificly for this tank and could match the potential damage of a 120mm gun if used correctly. The tank was also equipped with a turret mounted 50mm auto cannon that could fire HE, APHE or AP rounds. The new hover system also allowed the tank to even climb 80 degree slopes and had an automated hover controll computer. Manual control was also available and was often needed to fix small errors of the automatic alignment system. The computer could also be overwritten to use the hover thrusthers in a flight mode but this was not recommended due to the engines overheating and increased consumption of fuel and coolant which is why a flight manouver was only ever used in emergencies or as a means to dodge enemy missiles. The tank only required a crew of 2, a driver and a gunner that also functioned as a commander. The newly produced 55mm gatlings fired a semi sabot round capped with a special alloy to allow for maximum damage on impact and was incredibly effective at close range. The vehicle also had its fair share of downsides including low operational time due to increased fuel consomption and a need of constant repair and checkups it required to keep the 55mm's and the hover system working.

The ATA-55 saw service on many fronts including Khale and Condolia. During the battle of khale the ATA's served as a breakthrough vehicle and managed to help defeat the resurgent forces. During the battle of Condolia the ATA's helped gain time for the retrat from the system and were also guarding the secret air base in the north region of Condollia.

Cmdr. DoomForge™ Thanks, i might write some lore about it in my lore discord. The build itself isnt really good tho, i just used some camera tricks to make it look cool. Also im still working on the hangar build.

@ Cmdr. DoomForge very high impact weapon like coilgun, MACs, missiles Torps do rather decent damage to the shield ( mexplex, unsc, Northwind)

But energy weapon are more suited for shielded units especially those who do EM type damage are very good vs Shield. ( HSR weapon “MA weapon mod” drew a blank when recalling the proper name but it’s in the WC listed mod)
Ex: HSR Shieldbreaker, EMP turret, Gladius laser.

@Cmdr. DoomForge™ the structures are showcase pieces i built a while ago. The one in the last pic is a secret airbase in northern condollia while the hangar pics are from a base build im still working on and i havent written any lore about yet. And yeah i agree the front angled armor makes building it in survival hard but it really adds to its frontal armor and looks cool. If you have any tank ideas im open for ideas. I only have one more tank idea that im currently building and than im planning on switching to building historical tanks.

Just for clarification, that part about the hinge was just in regard to building complexity for survival mode. I know the turret head portion can pretty much easily be aligned to plop down into place for attachment, but was uncertain how the front armor would be managed during projected construction.
