Description
A new alternative to the repeating Downtown maps. I present to you with the authorization of THE Smartzenegger himself, RP_TriCity. A Combination of F. Kalkman's 3 most classic maps merged together to make a larger playing area and still retain 99% of its original layouts!

This was more of a personal project for me and others in TSF that helped me out. We loved Kalkman's old maps, the detail and love that went into it... And that compared to the Downtown copies? eh. Though, we understood that several other maps fulfilled that DarkRP need without being Downtown. This is here to, once again, try to raise that bar. But its mostly a nostalgia trip! :D

Well this map brings in a few changes that arnt so dramatic that itll be noted.

  • Optimization pass
  • Cleaned up alot of broken triggers, buttons, and the like as they just dont work anymore
  • Removed MOST props as its a large RP map, no longer a HL2DM map
  • Remade the nuke system with actual Thrunderbolt sirens, and... shelter... and kill trigger! 300s timer to get to the shelter! Shelter located in the Storage backroom in the rp_hometown sector.
  • Had to remove the passive-active train in the skybox as it was colliding with the map.
  • Added a dedicated Admin-sit room located above the Fallout shelter and the credit room right next to it.
  • Most of the custom props made it over!
  • Map is nav-meshed!
  • Map is node_graphed on all standard surfaces, stairs are a little jank though.
  • Id say about, 70 players max before it starts to feel too much?

The 3 maps above are designed to not really be wide open too much, more for atmosphere and looks around you. Its not too closterphobic, and still able to be played just fine in an RP sense. Unless you NEED mass base building at all costs.

The map comes with some of the following!
  • Alot of cool locations
  • A very home-feel
  • MANY stores and shops
  • MANY locations you can enter
  • A good sized water area for use with airboats or float property props.
  • A police station
  • Several gun stores
  • VIP room
  • Hospital and Clinic
  • Some pretty funny posters
  • And quite the few alleyways to get mugged in.

Textures are different fr, but I can also say that some interiors are also different.

i dont see any interiors that are different. but textures maybe.
I would say it's also due to the things like textures used and the store's interiors.

Ah that, i do have that feel. but thats mostly due to things like lighting, tonemaps, and such. what i COULD do, is go into 1999, pull these things out, and apply them to TriCity. the entire map will feel this way. which i dont mind

It could be me, but IMHO Hometown 2000 doesn't have the same vibe the 1999 version of the map has, and due to that, it doesn't fit the rest of the maps featured here aesthetically.

the VMF will come in the foreseeable future.

the reason that hometown 2000 was used over 1999 was because it was the latest version that could be used. i dont see much differences between the two.
Will we ever get a version of this map using the original Hometown 1999 for the Hometown section of this map or at least a VMF of it?
