Improved Personality Formation System

Description
In the vanilla game, the system that gives children their personalities takes really only two things into account, and that's the personality traits of their guardian and (nowadays, for some cultures) their culture. This mod makes the system that gives children their personality traits more complicated, taking many more factors into account.

It has the following changes compared to the vanilla game:

The probabilities for what personality traits a child gets as they grow up depend on the personalities of their guardian, their parents, their friends and their siblings, what personality traits are virtues or sins in their faith, what childhood personality trait they have, their culture (if it makes certain traits more likely), and their education focus.

What childhood trait a child gets at 3 is affected somewhat by what government form they live under, the personalities and education of their parents, and the childhood traits of their siblings.


This mod may be incompatible with any mod that changes things in the child_personality_events.txt file.


Note: To clarify, all this mod does is modify the probabilities in the existing vanilla events in the child_personality_events.txt file, based on the factors listed above. It doesn't add events, or anything else, of its own.

It's just things like: Tribal children are a little more likely to get rowdy as childhood trait. Children with parents that have a martial training are a little more likely to get rowdy or bossy. Children with brave parents are a little more likely to become brave. Children in faiths where being honest is a virtue are a little more likely to become honest. Children with the charming childhood trait are a little more likely to become gregarious. And so on...

There's an apparent bug related to the eccentric trait.

It's not critical, because it doesn't prevent the trait from being assigned. It merely prevents (or may be preventing) a couple of factors from increasing the likelihood of the eccentric trait being assigned, when the events for it do fire.

It doesn't affect how likely the events are to fire, in the first place, and they're quite unlikely to fire compared to the other childhood personality events anyway (10% as likely as most others). So, it's really no big deal. The trait seems to be meant to be very rare.

But I will try to fix it as quickly as I manage to figure it out. Otherwise, I may make a temporary emergency solution for a while.

I don't see anything in the files for that mod that interferes with this one. It should be fine.

I updated the mod to work with the current version and made some small changes. It's not extensively tested in any way, but it ran without errors in the error log. I will play with it over the coming days and see if I notice any bugs.

If you see any issues with the mod, let me know.

I made the appropriate changes. I have not tested it extensively, but it ran without error messages in the log. Hopefully everything should be correct.

There might be a new update soon. I'm going to take a good look at the mod and see if I want to make any changes, improvements, or additions. We will see.

@rejected80 I believe you're correct on your assessment. I have this mod integrated into my "Super Compatch" so it's compatible with other educational mods and I don't recall any issues except the travel and eccentric issues.

So, I'm trying to update the mod, for the first time since May (sorry). I'm noticing only two real changes (and one tiny bug fix they've done). One is that they now check for is_available_child_allow_travel rather than is_available_child, and the second is that they've added new events to give children the new eccentric trait.

This means that if you're running this mod right now, children won't be getting personality trait events while traveling (not a real issue if they're not traveling A LOT), and that children can't get the eccentric trait while growing up.

I will fix those two things and upload a new version very soon.

However (the point of this post), if you've noticed any other issues from running the mod recently, please let me know here.
