Petrel Bicopter

A nice flying, medium to heavy lift utility bicopter. The Petrel has a decent 110 knot top speed and a 55Nm+ (100km) range. She's equiped with various detection and locator systems, including a radar, emergency beacon locator (by Rifleman,) and radio signal locator (also by Rifleman.) Fly without difficulty using the auto-hover system and go to any waypoint with ease with the autopilot.

Startup is quick and easy: Flip the Instrument Power switch forward then turn the Engine On/Off key and watch the engines spool. The engine is pre-set at the minimum RPS (60) and can be increased for heavier loads.

To utilize the autopilot system make a waypoint on the map then input the waypoint using the keypad on the right side of the cockpit (to erase all current waypoints go to the map page and push the 'C'.) Waypoints can be input at any time in any flight state. To engage the autopilot, once at least one waypoint has been entered, first ensure auto-hover is enabled then push the Go to Waypoint button. To exit autopilot once it is engaged push the Go to Waypoint button, or give a pitch/roll/yaw input. Altitude in auto-hover mode and, by extension, autopilot mode is controlled by the Up and Down arrow keys.

The radar has two modes: Range While Search (RWS) and Single Target Track (STT.) To engage STT mode click the screen or MFD 2; shift the search area by clicking the screen in STT mode. To return to RWS from STT click MFD 2. While in RWS mode the radar will scan +-90 degrees. Disclaimer: STT mode is decent, but not perfect and will drop lock.
