Description:

Developed primarily to carry the new MW-02 Wyvern and Derzky-Class ships, the Weser II is PHI's first purpose-built carrier.
Despite sharing her name with the earlier Weser-Class escort carriers, the Weser II was designed from scratch.
However, she does take some ideas from the Admiral Hipper-Class heavy cruisers, as well as share a few traits with her namesake, even if she is of a different class.
One of those is the ability to carry a large amount and multiple types of vessels, with room for 10 small grids and 6 large grids.
Another one is her unusually heavy armament of two triple barreled turrets and two single barreled ones on top of a bunch of AA and dual-purpose weaponry.
She was initially meant to carry a total of eight twin barreled casemate turrets, but they were scrapped after testing showed their fragility, as well as concerns regarding possible Clang if the armour was deformed too much.

Her armour is quite lacking for her size however, and gunfights against similarly armed opponents should be avoided if possible due to the fragility of the ship's printers.
The lack of armour does come with a benefit though: the Weser is quite nimble, and her jump range is superior compared to similarly sized PHI ships.
Plans have already been made to develop more specialised carriers based on the experiences gained from the Weser II, though she will certainly become a mainstay of PHI forces for the time being.

Features:

  • Survival Ready: conveyors are all connected.
  • Eyes that keep looking at you.
  • Two 6x3x2 small grid printers that are partially automated.
  • Two rotor turrets with three rocket launchers each, two rotor turrets with one rocket launcher each and four rotor turrets with nine gatlings each.
  • A further thirteen gatling turrets, three missile turrets and sixteen interior turrets on the outside.
  • Four 6x3x2 hangars for small grid ships, primarily the F-41 Javelin.
  • Two flight decks with room for six larger small grid ships, such as the MW-02 Wyvern.
  • Four docking points for smaller large grid ships, like the Derzky-Class patrol craft.
  • Finally, two more docking points for even smaller large grid ships, specifically utility ones that are almost finished.
  • 5km radar for combat as a fleet.
  • Uses a mix of hydrogen and ion thrusters, and has thrusters hidden inside the hull without the need to turn thruster damage off.
  • Full production capacity: One assembler and two refineries with four modules, and two assemblers with three modules.
  • Twenty cryo pods, and a further twelve beds.
  • Semi-random idle animations using the mouth and fins.
  • Jump distance of around 1500km (unloaded).
  • Cleaned up terminal and hotbars.

Specifications:

  • Blocks - Main Grid: 5,773
  • Blocks - With Subgrids: 6,700
  • PCU - Main Grid: 44,062
  • PCU - With Subgrids: 60,606
  • Mass - Unloaded: 9,865,380 kg
  • Airtight: Crew areas are airtight, maintenance areas are not.

Dimensions:
  • Length: 190 Meters.
  • Width: 62.5 Meters.
  • Height: 52.5 Meters.

Usage:
  • Role: Multi-grid carrier, flagship.
  • Area of Operation: Space, orbits up to 0.15 g's.

Other:
  • The mouth needs to be opened in order to print new fighters.
  • The large grid docking points have sensors for turning off the thrusters near them. There should be no danger of damaging docked ships.
  • While the flight decks were made for the Wyvern, it is not recommended to actually have six of them docked. The Wyvern is sadly quite performance heavy, and will cause performance issues in larger numbers.
  • When deactivating the idle animations, make sure that the mouth is closed and the fins are pointing downwards.

Author's Notes:
Welp, she ended up quite a bit heavier (both in PCU and actual weight) than I had hoped, and having a full complement of four small grids, six mixed grids and six large grids lags my game to hell...
While I do still like the concept behind carriers and will make more in the future, their complements will be smaller and more specialised compared to this one purely because of the performance issues.
The exception to this might be Graf Zeppelin, if I ever come up with a way to further build her hull.

Glad you like it!

Could be a lot of things really, but looking at most ships that reach the front page, my ships are probably a bit too unconventional.
