Your transatlantic voyage awaits aboard Cunard's RMS Queen Elizabeth 2, the longest serving ocean liner in history. STARTING THE SHIP

When boarding from the aft of the vessel, proceed through the Yacht Club and Main lounge located through the doors near the pool. Once through the main lounge, continue down to the bottom of the midships stairwell.

Note: If you are boarding at the midships doorway, simply proceed down the set of stairs off the midships lobby.

Once at the bottom of the midships stairwell, turn right and head forward until you see a door on your right labeled "Crew Only'. Head through the door and down the stairs. When you reach the bottom of these stairs, you should see a watertight door ahead of you, continute through that and the engine control room is on your right.

From here, Turn on the coolant pumps and fuel pumps for all 4 engines (Located on the panel to the right), then turn the starter keys for each engine. You can disengage the keys once the engines are started.

With the engines started, exit the engine control room and turn right. Follow that hallway until you see a set of stairs. At the top of those stairs you should see yet another set of stairs. Once you reach the top of those, turn left and at the end of that hallway you should see a stairwell up to the main galley. From the galley you can take a set of stairs up to the bridge.

Once on the bridge, advance the Clutch lever and the throttle lever and the ship should begin to move.

SHIP HISTORY
Launched in 1967, QE2 took to the North Atlantic in uncertain times. Much of the transatlantic travel market had been taken by the airlines. As such QE2 was designed to sail the North Atlantic during the summer months and cruise the tropics during the winter. With the retirement of the RMS Queen Mary & the RMS Queen Elizabeth (Launched in 1936 & 1940 respectively), the QE2 became Cunard's only transatlantic liner.

In 1982, Argentina invaded the Falkland Islands and the QE2 was requisitioned as a troopship. She was given 2 extra helipads, loaded with 3,000 men of the British Fifth Infantry Brigade and sent to the South Atlantic. Following her brief war service, she was returned to Cunard.

In 1986 her oil boilers were replaced with diesel engines and her livery and interior were modernized. She would undergo several more major refits throughout the 90s. In 1998 the Cunard Line was acquired by Carnival Corporation and construction began on QE2's successor.

In 2004 the RMS Queen Mary 2 replaced the QE2 on the regular Transatlantic route. QE2 would spend the next 4 years serving as a cruise ship, partaking in world cruises and pleasure cruising. In 2007 Cunard announced her retirement, with her final voyage being carried out in November of 2008. She now serves as a floating hotel in Dubai.

Over the course of her 40 year career, she sailed over 5 million miles and visited every corner of the globe. She was loved by her passengers and is still considered by many to be the last great Transatlantic liner (Although QM2 is most definitely an ocean liner).

Captain Tanner, The engine ignition keys don't need to stay in the on position, switching them to the off position after starting the engines should eliminate the starter noise. Other than that there's not much that can be done.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard 1 May, 2021 @ 10:58pm
is there a way to reduce engine noise?

Is there a way to turn the power back on? For example, if you were struck by a meg.
