AB-6 A-1 Light Bomber

Following the introduction of the AB-1 (and also SB-2) Bomber, it has been noticed that high-speed bombing runs pose a great risk to pilot safety. In many cases, bombs dropped would detonate against the back of the bomb bay, destroying the ship.

Seeing the relative safety of the AF-2 fighter in bombing runs, it was decided to combine the two.

unlike its predecessors, the AB-6 features a rear-mounted bomb hardpoint where bombs can be welded to in-flight. The AB-6 also retains the AB-1's speed, maneuverability, and light offensive armament.
