This is because from what I know from that modder, the hair is "dyed" by replacing Hat Kid's and Bow Kid's original hair textures. Because only through that method, that gradient can be achieved.
My open hair mod however uses the method that all dyeable flairs use, so that whatever dye is equippied, the flair has the same color the hair from that dye gets.
I cannot guarantee that my flair works 100% with other mods from other modders. That's just how it be sometimes.
Even kid alien with tail in her head need to feel the wind in her hair~
