Locate Game Folder
In your steam library locate the loop hero game and right click it to open up the context menu and select "Properties".

Once the new window opens up go to the Local Files Tab and click on "Browse"

Modify Variables.ini file
Once you are inside the game folder locate the variables.ini file in the root of the Loop Hero folder and open it in a text editor.

Locate the line
game_speed

This can be changed to alter the ingame speed, by default this is set to 60.

Change the speed from 60 to 120 to double the current ingame speed.

This will make it so the regular ingame speed is now similar to x2
And x2 will now become x4.

Once you have made the changes save the file and boot up the game.
When you are ingame you can look in the bottom right corner if the changes you made have been saved properly it will now display that the .ini file has been changed.

Achievements:

As of the current patch v1.008 Achievements are not locked when changing this file so achievements are still able to be earned as you would normally.
Important note
After testing claims made in the comments section in regards to this change, i can confirm that the treasury will not give out the proper amount of resources when using this change, this was tested on v1.008.

It is likely that this change will also affect other aspects of the game creating unusual behavior that we are not currently aware of.

Just one of those things that should've been in the game from the start. We could definitely use a Speed x3 button and maybe a Speed 4x one, but it should end there.

just be aware that this is the games FRAME RATE. increase it too high, and youre gonna have a bad day.

im not sure if its dependent on pc specs or wtv, but having it windowed works better with this sped up modification. more noticeable when u change it to 360 or so
personally i recommend using cheat engine instead to increase the game speed, altho it doesnt seem to work over 5x speed [it doesnt crash, just doesnt speed up over 5x - altho the background does indeed wiggle faster, put it on 100x or so speed to see it dance]

@Beckerzineo , @Offlane or feed my fat wife

Can confirm that the treasury does not appear to be giving out the proper amount of resources and equipment after the game speed has been changed.

I tested this with a unaltered .ini file and it gave the proper amount of resources then ran another game with a changed .ini file and it only gave a couple of resources and no equipment

@Beckerzineo
The game speed is faster, your hero moves quicker on the overworld screen.
But the battle animations are also sped up 2x as fast after this change.

Doesn't seem to actually have any effect on game speed and makes many interactions buggy like the Treasuries not giving rewards when completed, so you actually get less resources. Maybe the update changed that, but I wouldn't recommend doing this anymore

Treasuries will not give you equipment when you empty them if you do this, only resources. I'm guessing thats tied to the ini file being changed rather than the specific value.

@manitena are you sure about achievements disabled?
I used this speedhack yesterday, managed to beat the lich and got the achievement for placing a card on every single tile

Really useful as the slowness of the game starts to grind after a while.

Thanks for this! FWIW the Linux path is hidden inside the `assets` directory, i.e. `~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Loop Hero/assets/variables.ini`.
