CE-01 Lancer

One of the first products of Champion Enterprises Century Project, the Lancer Frigate has been both lauded for its performance, and derided by its political opponents for its cost and its seeming flying in the face of the arms restriction for militias by the Zirax/Polaris Treaty.

Advertised by C.E. as a counter to increasing pirate activity and “rogue” Zirax aggression in some border systems, the Lancer was designed to be both fast enough to catch anything within its weight class, but also strong enough to handle fights other ships its size could not, especially when hunting in packs. Carrying firepower more equal to a destroyer or light cruiser (as well a price tag near that level) some have argued that this armament is a clear violation of the Zirax/Polaris treaty limiting system militias to frigate class ships or below. In the past when asked for comment, Champion Enterprises CEO Eric Champion simply shrugged and said “Talk to the marketing team. If they say it’s a Frigate, it’s a Frigate.”

Wherever you land on the side of the debate, the Lancer remains one of CE’s more popular ship classes and has been seen as part of many systems peacekeeping forces. One thing is for certain though, as tensions continue to rise between the galactic powers the smaller territories will need all the help they can get to secure their borders.
