Great Kings and High Kings

Description
Updated for 1.18.0

Includes German localization

A mod which changes the empires of Francia, Hispania, Carpathia and West Slavia into Great Kingdoms and its rulers into Great Kings and Great Queens and also changes the Empires of Britannia and Scandinavia into High Kingdoms with High Kings and High Queens.
This is to make the game somewhat more historical, because in medieval christian Europe there could be only one empire - the Roman Empire. So it doesn't make sense to have any other empire in Europe but for those which claim to be the legitimate successor of the Roman Empire.
Obviously there were no High Kings or Great kings in medieval Europe (save for the High king of Ireland), however, it seemed to me more immersive than seing non-Roman emperors.

If you would like to only have the High Kingdoms, I made a mod for that before.

Uh no what I meant is make all empire titles appear in game as high kingdoms with only hegemonies holding the term Empire.

My idea was to simply rename the title rankings for all current empire titles.
That said I will note formable empires like the North Sea, Panslavia, and Africa would make more sense as hegemonies but that’s a bit beyond what I was suggesting.

@Darthiyan Because Byzantium, the HRE and Italy still make sense as empires. Unless you mean changing those into hegemonies which would make this mod significantly less lightweight.

Cool mod but why not rework Hegemonies into the true Empires and all Empire titles into High Kingdoms?

Is it possible for empire titles to keep the title history of their primary kingdom under that empire (e.g. French monarch forming Francia keeps the name Louis VII instead of Louis I for the new title) Nice mod, and sorry if it's nitpicky.

I heavily disagree. If this had been the case during the medieval period, than why didn't the Visigoth proclaim themselves as Emperor of Hispania?
If the Visigoths & Ostrogoths had untied into a single Empire, which I believe from a video I've seen was an idea, then their claim to being Emperor would've been recognised & then maybe we would've had a Gothic Empire claiming to be the legit Roman Imperator.
A realistic addition to the mod where through dynastic marriage one can claim to be Imperator if they're married into the Imperial Family if the HRE or ERE.
It'd have to grant a whole new trait to characters that is somewhere inbetween the Augustus trait & the Sayyid trait which can be degraded to claimant status, once the dynasty & the people married into it no longer owns a Roman Empire.

Well, as far as I understand it, the Spanish imperial title wasn't used for very long and was also not really recognized outside Spain. I would recommend disabling the mod for Hispania runs if you want to see a Hispanian empire for the time being. I will think about making an additional version of the mod which would leave Hispania as an empire, but no promise.

Love the idea of the mod, but I agree with the person below me — if you could return the Empire of Hispania I'd be grateful!

Many thanks!

"Emperor of Hispania" was an actual title used by real rulers, and definitely in the collective political imagination of iberian christians. Should remain an empire imo
