The Mice of Marlow Manor is a game of one versus many—one player takes on the role of amateur exterminator Mr. Hackett, who lays hidden traps in the house in an attempt to eliminate the mice, while the other player(s) assume(s) the roles of mouse family leaders, working together to detect traps, defend themselves, and collect food.

If they can stay alive and well-fed through Mr. Hackett’s extermination attempts, they will become masters of the manor for another season. But if they fail, Mr. Hackett will eradicate them, hire a solicitor, claim the property, and begin renovating the manor for his new business venture.
