Citylink "Rainbow Era" 1970s American Passenger Trains (Amtrak Phase 1)

Description
All Aboard Citylink!

In the 1970s, American railroads were trying desperately to shut down their government-mandated interstate passenger trains, which were no longer profitable due to the railroads shutting down the intrastate passenger feeder networks in order to sabotage the interstate trains.

People like trains, so this led to the creation of Amtrak Citylink, who took over rail passenger operations in May of 1971. Part of the deal for Citylink to pick up the unprofitable passenger service was that freight railroads would hand over their passenger cars and locomotives, and after picking the best-kept cars from dozens of railroads, the Citylink "Rainbow Era" began, where trains were made up of cars from all over the country, most of which were still in their original paint schemes.

Citylink quickly got to work painting their new fleet, and soon a more uniform red, white, and blue paint scheme was found all over the country.

Facts and Features
  • 5 trains for all types of service
  • 30 props for all cars and locomotives
  • Realistic models based on original drawings, plans, and diagrams
  • Accurate sound effects for the engine and horn with the Vehicle Effects Mod
  • "Canon" railroads that match my other assets (including modern day trains)

Special thanks to Interurban_Era for the paint scheme designs and to Cooter for the screenshots

This is so awesome! I really hope that there will be future consists based off old Amtrak trains in different locomotives, such as those powered by the SDP and P30.

@Katyusha - they do not, since most consists are set up to have cars of varying lengths at the head end, and a specific order of the cars throughout. To fix trains reversing, set up a wye track with an additional station and set the train route to use the wye to turn the trains at the end of the line, which is realistic anyway.
