Le terme de front de l’Est, ou Grande guerre patriotique, appellation soviétique, désigne, dans le contexte de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, le théâtre d'opérations qui oppose l'Allemagne nazie à l'Union soviétique de juin 1941 à mai 1945. Ces deux nations se livrent à une guerre totale qui se déroule d'abord en Union soviétique, puis dans les pays occupés par les forces de l'Axe en Europe de l'Est ou alliés au Reich, et enfin en Allemagne. L'Allemagne bénéficie de l'aide de la Roumanie, de l'Italie, de la Hongrie et de la Finlande. Du côté des Alliés, l'Union soviétique est soutenue par des unités polonaises puis par des unités roumaines, bulgares et yougoslaves, au fil de la conquête de l'Europe de l'Est par l'Armée Rouge.

The frontally east term, or the patriotic Great War, the Soviet naming, indicates(appoints), in the context of the Second World War, the theater of operations which brings into conflict Nazi Germany in Soviet Union from June, 1941 till May, 1945. These two nations are engaged(surrender) in an all-out war which takes place at first in Soviet Union, then in countries occupied by the strengths of the Axis in the Eastern Europe or allied to Reich, and finally in Germany. Germany benefits from the help(assistant) of Romania, from Italy, from Hungary and from Finland. Near(on the side of) the Allies, Soviet Union is supported by Polish units then by Rumanian, Bulgarian and Yugoslav units, in the course of the conquest of the Eastern Europe by the Red Army.
