PtG to ABLC data converter

Description
Converts Plop the Growables savegame settings for "prevent growables that you plop from leveling up" to Advanced Building Level Control settings.

If you don't know what any of that is, then you probably don't have any use for this mod. It's for a very specific use case that you should know about if you need it.

NOTE
This *only* converts the "prevent growables that you plop from leveling up" (hereafter referred to as 'PGTYPFLU') data from Plop the Growables, because that's the *only* data stored in the savegame file. The other Plop the Growables settings don't need such conversion, so this converter should only be used if you've been using PGTYPFLU and want to transfer your settings to Advanced Building Level Control.

Best used in conjunction with Ploppable RICO Revisited 2.4, which implements the PGTYPFLU function for newly-plopped growables, so probably don't use this yet unless you're currently using the TESTING branch of Ploppable RICO Revisited (which is where 2.4 is currently being, surprise, tested, before pushing to the main Ploppable RICO Revisited release). Unless you want to, of course. Don't ask me, I'm not your mother.

HOW TO USE
  • Exit your game
  • Unsubscribe from Plop the Growables - this mod can't work if Plop the Growables is active at the same time
  • Subscribe to this mod, start your game WITHOUT loading your savegame
  • Enable this mod in your content manager
  • Then, and ONLY THEN, load your savegame
  • Save your savegame (under a new name, of course)
  • Exit to desktop and UNSUBSCRIBE from this mod
This mod will load the list of buildings that Plop the Growables has recorded as 'plopped growables' and will then use Advanced Building Level Control to lock those buildings to their current level.

Of course, you can then change the ABLC settings to whatever you want, or leave them alone. It's up to you. We report, you decide.

REQUIRED MODS
Requires boformer's Harmony 2 mod, and also Advanced Building Level Control (duh).

How it works
The game has a bizarrely convoluted way of preventing mods from reading other mods' savegame data, so I had to pull off a couple of tricks to make this happen. Basically, this mod pretends to the game that it's the genuine Plop the Growables so it can access the data (which doesn't work when the *real* Plop the Growables is active, because then you get a "no, I'M Spartacus!" situation, and then you end up with everyone crucified along the Appian Way, which is a big downer when all you wanted to do was play Cities: Skylines, if only because it's hard to play when your hands are nailed to a crossbeam).

ANYWAY, the mod then communicates this data to Advanced Building Level Control via the latter's public inter-mod interface to set the building level there.

Conflicting mods
Plop the Growables. Which of course you already knew, because you just carefully read the desciption above and didn't just skim straight to this section. Hooray for you!

Meta
Doesn't save anything to the savefile (obviously, Advanced Building Level Control will). Can be safely removed at any time.

This mod uses Harmony[github.com] version 2.0 by Andreas Pardeike via the Cities Harmony mod by boformer.

5 stars for the narrative on "How it works!"

@Stormhand No, once it's done its job once, then there's nothing more for it to do, and can be safely unusbscribed.

There's nothing wrong with keeping it subscribed, but general best practice is to unsubscribe from mods that you're not actively using (as that reduces the chances of any mod conflict).

Do I need to keep this mod installed after running it on my city for the first time?

hi,Is there an option, can be like "Plop the Growables"
Make All Historical This option is ON by "default". It makes all the growables in the game historical. This means they can level up but will not change appearance.
