Rare Monster Loot: Fixes and Improvements

Description
The addition of elemental variants of unique monsters in version 1.4 was a neat little bonus to the lackluster bounty hunter content but, in traditional Chucklefish style, the result was a hastily thrown together bit of content: some monsters don't drop loot, and those that do use the default drop pools meaning you inexplicably get Scorched Cores from Ice Fennix but otherwise give no other reward for finding these rare spawns. Logical, right?

Well, guess who finally got off his ass and did something about it?
Seriously, starting this mod is why I went on hiatus in 2019.

This mod fixes the broken (literally nonexistent) treasurepool attachments of multiple elemental variants, creates new treasurepools so that each rare monster drops items accurate to their element, and increases action figure drop chance to give at least some benefit for finding a shiny pokemon rare monster.
  • The following monsters now actually drop loot: Fire Gleap, Poison King Nutmidge, Ice Peblit, Poison Smoglin, Electric Voltip
    • This brings them in line with their standard counterparts.
  • All variant monsters now drop elementally-accurate loot: Cryonic Extract from Ice variants, Scorched Cores from Fire variants, etc.
  • Variants have an increased chance of dropping action figures compared to their normal counterparts: 0.5% when killed with normal weapons, and 10% when killed with hunting weapons (as opposed to 0.1%, period).
  • Poison Pulpin now sprays liquid poison on death instead of water... because it's made of poison.

Mod Compatibility
  • As this mod creates brand new drop pools for the elemental variants, any mod that also patches elemental variant loot may be incompatible.
  • As of March 10th, 2021, this mod is integrated into RPG Growth and integrated into its experience drop system. RPG Growth subscribers should not subscribe to this version of the mod; subscribing to both at the same time will cause issues and is otherwise unnecessary.

Pre-emptive FAQ
Is this compatible with <insert mod name here>?
As long as the mod in question does not patch the drop paths of elemental variant monsters, then yes.

Does <insert mod name here> patch elemental variant drop paths?
Ask that mod's developer. I'm tired of deleting the unpacks of other mods.

Will you make a similar patch for <insert mod name here> monsters?
Nah.

The wiki says Fire Gleap drops Gleap loot!
Not a question. And it's wrong, though I've given up on most efforts to edit the wiki. If you don't believe me, unpack your vanilla assets and look at the five listed monsters. Here's their drop pool path:
"dropPools" : [],
A blank dropPools path means no loot unless scripted via lua (Protip: it's not).

Mod mak my gaem crash (end of post)
If you want help, be it with an issue actually originating from this mod or anything else, you must include a pastebin link to your complete starbound.log from the session that had an issue. Comments that demand help, only include a log snippet, or do not include a log at all will be ignored and/or deleted. And please, by all that's decent, spellcheck your messages. If English isn't your first language, I can understand machine (Google) translation better than I can spelling guesses. If you're embarrassed because you have SxB mods installed and don't want me to see that, don't be; just give me the full log, I don't kink-shame, though I reserve the right to deny assistance if I see FU mods as wrestling with anything related to FU is a hassle I don't care to deal with.

Is this compatible with Pandora's Box Mod? I don't use FU, just Pandora's Box.

If you're still tracking these comments, it's now integrated into RPG Growth. If you're subbed to this AND Growth, unsub from this version.

I think this is a pretty useful mod! At the expense of the illogicality of the drops, I agree. For it is not normal when Cryonic Extract drops from Fire Wisper. :SBpenguin:

@Azure Fang.
Thanks. I'll do that:) I always check the patch notes popup window when i load the game that fu or something brings up.

Should be. As far as I know, treasure pools are not saved to planet files.
SanyGame 5 Feb, 2021 @ 4:24am
Does it safe to uninstall?
Azure Fang  [author] 4 Feb, 2021 @ 11:28am
@Morithia
Indeed. However, I have no timetable on the RPG Growth release. Chaika is a force of nature that moves as he pleases, so make sure to keep an eye on their patch notes and unsub here when necessary :happymeat:

Ah ok, thank you. So I can use this one until it's rolled in?
Azure Fang  [author] 4 Feb, 2021 @ 10:14am
@Morithia
Upcoming. Chaika's dead-set on getting the remaining specializations ready for initial release before putting out another update.
Pixiara 4 Feb, 2021 @ 6:39am
Is it already rolled into rpg growth or is that upcoming?
