SYSTEMS
  • ATMOSPHERIC CAPABILITY
As an B Class star ship, the Adowa retains the ability to enter the atmosphere of most most and set down using a set of two retractable landing gears. Once settled, the ship can then deploy a Craft-to-Surface ramp to transport equipment and vehicles to and from the surface. The main bridge, under-slung, also affords a commanding view of off-loading operations and serves as an overlook and control center for ground-based missions.
  • SCUTTLE PROCEDURE
Being a sizable ship, the Adowa poses a significant risk to its surroundings if it becomes uncontrollable at faster-than-light velocities. It is for this reason that it, along with other hyperdrive-fitted star ships, is legally required to have an Emergency Destruction System. Although there is no formal or abort-able EDS sequencer, the engineer, through depriving the reactor of its coolant, can force an overload in the fusion reactor. This generally offers a minute before self-destruction. The flight recorder is automatically jettisoned during such an emergency.
  • TOWING / REFUELING
The Adowa possesses a light symmetrical tow clamp for tugging and salvaged ships in an FTL-friendly mobile dry-dock.The ship is also refueled laterally, and in special circumstances, EVA may be necessary to service the exterior fuel line along a series of gantries.
  • DOCKING
The Adowa can manually hard dock to a station using the forward-mounted Craft-to-Station umbilicus, or by using the aft docking clamps, typically used for light to medium hauling.
  • SAFETY
Because of the Adowa's petite size, the personnel airlocks aboard to not conserve oxygen, they are merely cyclical. However, the main operations hangar does, and is fully equipped with the newest ICC-cleared safety systems and fail-safe timers to avoid fatal and unintentional rapid decompression
