Hunting Rifle Buff (Tier One)

Description
Who needs to fire on the move? No one!

Increases the Hunting Rifle's effectiveness in non-Versus gameplay. The Hunting Rifle now supports 20 bullets in its magazine, and has an increased firing rate.

This addon also makes the Hunting Rifle's and Sniper Rifle's accuracies identical (a median in between the Hunting Rifle's and Sniper Rifle's accuracies), and increases the damage dealt by Sniper Rifle bullets.

The Counter-Strike: Source scoped rifles (Scout and AWP) were also changed to be able to fire quickly and deal even more damage.

This version of the mod will also classify the Scoped Rifles to Tier 1, allowing them to appear in randomized Tier 1 weapon spawns, preventing them from appearing in randomized Tier 2 weapon spawns, and make bots prioritize picking up Assault Rifles and Auto Shotguns over them (because bots are hopeless with Scoped Rifles).

All players must have this addon installed in order for it to work, as well as the server being Local.

can you make a version of this that only effects the hunting rifle?

Oh wow, that def gives me some ideas for my own scripts then hehe

Absolutely. It works as I had described. If it's not a dedicated Pump Shotgun or SMG spawn, it has a chance of appearing as a Scoped Rifle in that particular location. You can find a number of examples of this happening in the official campaigns.

I didn't realize the tier setting in a gun's script actually did anything beyond bot behavior, have you tested this in-game?

Oh, didn't know that. In the few matches I've played with this mod the bots have never picked up snipers, so I thought it worked like that. Anyway this is not much of an issue. I still enjoy it

Bots will still pick up scoped rifles if their current weapon is running dry on ammo, or if it's the first primary weapon they'll encounter (ie Hard Rain). This also has the side effect of removing randomized scoped rifle spawns.

An alternative solution is the "Left 4 Bots" mod where you can use its settings to have bots actively avoid picking up scoped rifles if that's more your thing, although it prevents the support characters in The Passing from picking up the Sniper Rifle there, resulting in one of them stuck with the double pistols.

Yeah, probably it's because of that. Although I've downloaded a custom model with custom animations for it and it seems solved now. Anyway, it was a minor issue and what this mod does totally worth it. Now I won't have to deal with dumbasses bots who pick sniper rifles just to be usless. Thank you a lot for this :)

It must be a side effect from the faster reload I put onto the Hunting Rifle. When I made an OP version of the buff to farm kills, when I made the reload time extremely fast, the animation would glitch out. Probably an incompatibility with the current reload animations.

I have a minor issue to report. When using this script it seems that the hunting rifle does something strange after reloading it. I don't know if I will be able to explain it properly, but it looks like the animation that comes after reloading gets interrupted with another one for a moment and then returns to the idle animation. Do you know what's going on?

The thing is, the Hunting Rifle in its default state is so crappy that it doesn't even compare to the Military Sniper Rifles, which is the big reason why this mod exists in the first place. The CS Snipers in this mod already do more damage than they do normally in addition to firing almost as fast as their L4D counterparts. You should be thankful that I made them viable in this kind of game.

If you still aren't satisfied for whatever reason it doesn't take too much effort to make your own and change the weapons as you please. You can take my mod and change it accordingly and use it yourself (but you probably shouldn't upload it to the public).
