Grant's Gokturks (Bumin Qaghan)

While the Turks and their ancestors stretch back before Christ (and slightly after the Buddha), the Khaganate of the Celestial Turks, or Gokturks, was the first great Turkic empire to establish itself on the world stage, reaching the frozen forests of the Russian Far East to the east, and the cool waters of the Dniepr to the west. Its descendants, linguistic, cultural, and political, would shape the world for hundreds of years to come.
