New US Courthouse LA

Description
The New United States Courthouse of Los Angeles

Designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill [www.som.com], the New United States Courthouse of Los Angeles is a 10-story, LEED Platinum, "floating" glass cube located in Downtown Los Angeles's Civic Center. Housing 24 courtrooms, it was completed in 2016 at a cost of $326 million.

The building is defined by its glass facade: functionally, it maximizes natural lighting while simultaneously minimizing heat gain and cooling costs. Symbolically, the glass facade represents the transparent and open nature of the judiciary. Its setback, limestone-clad lobby is also both functional and aesthetic: it increases the setback from the street to comply with federal blast guidelines, but it also creates a new public space that was used prominently during the 2017 Women's March.

Author's Notes

First, the obvious: yes, this is the most generic name you could possibly come up with. Blame GSA (the agency responsible for building government buildings).

Second, I recommend pairing this with Luminou's LAPD Headquarters, as pictured in the screenshots, for the complete LA look. (Yes, I know, technically the LA Times Building is sandwiched between them) There is also a space at the building's front for flags, and naturally I recommend placing an American flag of your choice, though I've left it out for everyone's convenience.

Third, I was thinking of publishing another version of this as a prison. Let me know if that's something of interest!

Lastly, this is my first asset, so sorry if the triangle count is high, or the textures a wack! Feel free to leave feedback and recommendations in the comments below :) Huge shout of to CityWokCityWall for doing the asset creation tutorial on CS's official Youtube channel. It inspired me get out and make my own assets, learning how to use Blender and GIMP along the way. Highly recommend watching it here if you can't quite find the building you're looking for on the Workshop!

@Dahl You're right! The real courthouse is on a slope. Unfortunately I wasn't quite sure how an uneven model would work with CS's Asset Editor, so I made the artistic decision of raising it on a pedestal to keep the staircase and ADA ramps on the sides. Plus, I figured most people tend to build on flat areas, so raising it would make the asset more versatile.

This is a very well done asset. I hope there will be more of such high quality and detail in the future.

Could this be made as a police station? I think it'd be great

Nice, but the real thing is actually partially sunken into the ground at some street levels and it's not raised... would've been cool if you could've incorporated that
