This Guide will show you how to fix the Sound Problem RDR2 currently has.

How to fix it ?

Step 1: Start Red Dead

Step 2: Go to sound Options in your Taskbar

Step 3: Go to the Sound Mixer

Step 4: Set the sound how you like it (after the Update, the volume is set to 8 instead of 100)

Step 5: Repeat it everytime you start the game,becausei it resets after you close the game

I guess this works. I just use Stereo Tool or Breakaway One or some other audio processor to fix all loudness across all of Windows. Nothing's ever too quiet or too loud or clipped anymore.

has anyone had the problem of being able to hear dialogue but nothing else? no music or ambiance noise?

yeah the game was always way too quite even at full volume, this fixed it, thanks!

Thanks this was helpful, I had read about this solution before but when I checked I only saw Rockstar in the sound mixer, which does nothing to adjust - but there are 2 levels, one for Rockstar and one for Red Dead.

this would be ok if it didnt turn HDR off everytime I tab out. Really frustrating that they havent patched this yet.
