* Spartan starts with two Kings.
* General - R+K - Moves like a Rook or like a King.
* Warlord - B+N - Moves like Bishop or jumps like Knight.
* 2x Captain - Jumps 1 or 2 horizontally/vertically.
* 2x Lieutenant - Jumps 1 or 2 diagonally. Moves (but does not capture) 1 square horizontally.
* hoplite - captures straight ahead, moves 1 square diagonally, may jump (but not capture) 2 squares diagonally on first move.
* h1-h8: Lieutenant, General, King, Captain, Captain, Warlord, Lieutenant.

* Check Immunity - When the Spartan has two Kings in play a Spartan King is immune from check.
* Duple-Check - If both Spartan Kings are placed under simultaneous attack this is duple-check. The Spartan loses if on his move he is unable to escape duple-check.
* Promotion - A hoplite may promote to any Spartan piece including a second King.
* no Capturing en Passant; no Castling for Spartan Kings
