Description
After the Kuiper Wars and the destruction of Earth most of humanity set adrift, searching for new worlds to colonize. We went into the shadows...to plot our revenge.

After many decades of searching we have found our new home. This planet is...habitable but...barely.

Frozen. Hardly enough atmosphere to breathe, really.

Mostly devoid of feature and resource.

Entirely without sentient life - at least that we've been able to identify.

It is also far, far, far away from any other star systems...

...which makes it perfect for us.

There is what we might call an oasis on this godforsaken rock with its mammoth, molten moon - and that is this ancient impact crater filled with mercury and surrounded by the residue of whatever gigantic, interstellar object slammed full-force into this icy world.

There are other enclaves being settled as we speak, around lesser impact craters and other anomalies we will, in time, unravel. We have already established a network for rapid transit for supplies and personnel between those sites nearest us and our own resource rich environs.

Also in this area are clusters of mineral growths - crystals to be exact - that we are finding very useful in an array of new equipment.

These crystals are centered around large protrusions our astrogeologists have determined are fossilized and quite dead, so do with them what you will. In addition to the crystals and those...things...there are other fossilized structures that appear to be non-reactive and also somewhat useful. Feel free to exploit this scant resource, as well.

We must build a new capitol here and regain our strength.

Now we are in the shadows, but one day the entire Galaxy will know the name of Ultima Thule!

Thank you. One of my earliest maps and map themes and still one of my favorites.
