Description
This junction is based on the length of track between signals, to allow at least a full length of train before hitting another signal in the junction on the main 4 tracks. A quarter of the junction is provided if you like shorter lengths between signals for shorter trains.

Theory: Most jams are not the result of bad signalling, but of the junction being too tightly fitted together such that the signals block several tracks at the same time, encouraging lockups when multiple trains are involved. This junction attempts to spread things out according to the maximum length trains are expected to have.

Also notice (and this wasn't planned) that if a train has to stop at a signal, it is always either flat, or on a downhill, which will help a little in acceleration when it gets to start again.
