Mining Colony - 60x44 Strike Force Map (Additive Load)

Description
This is a more experimental 40k battlemap, made entirely from community assets, and I tweaked a few assets here and there. All terrain features are labelled and made as clear as possible for both players, do let me know if you encounter issues.. It features a large obstacle in the centre to divide the relatively open battlefield, with large Obstructing structures littered all over

The trick with this map is that the terrain around the edges provides Light Cover, whereas the central terrain has no cover to give, but can grant improved LoS on the enemy deployment..

This is a Warhammer 40K map designed for use with the FTC 9th edition map template. it measures 60” x 44” and is intended for Strike Force (2000 point) size armies. You will need to separately subscribe to the FTC - 40k 9th Edition Map Base and then add this map using the "additive load feature".

Map suitable for the following missions:
- Eternal War #3: Four Pillars
- Eternal War #6: Vital Intelligence
- GT20 #13: Vital Intelligence
- GT20 #31: Overrun

Hands down favourite map that you have made! This is so amazing! I'm looking forward to playing multiple games on this map now!

Played a game on this map yesterday, and what a thrill it was. My initial reaction on loading it was "Wow, this looks so amazing, but it seems a little impractical". However, my opponent thankfully disagreed with me, and the game was a real blast. The verticality of the map made for some really interesting tactical decisions that you don't normally get, and served to highlight the contrast in our armies a lot (speedy Tyranids vs slow Necrons).

So if you're looking at this map and thinking "oh, I don't know if this will work" - try it! It's gorgeous to look at and really fun to play on.
