To the people saying it's Constantinople and not Istanbul, is like saying it's New Amsterdam and not New York. Also if you want to refer to it by it's original name, it's Byzantium.

Yup its Constantinople, or Konstantinopolis. But for the correct name in Turkish it would be something like Konstantinyye. So Istanbul isnt correct in any language, it is slang for "THE City" from Greek Ista Poli... When people referred to THE City they knew it was the biggest city.
