Usually the combat boost vs more advanced Civs is useless since that means you're losing the fight, and you may just have better science anyway bc you don't want to dump it - and in that case, you aren't benefitting
But here with the trait, there's a greater likelihood of nearby civs having better science than you. Which would normally make it quite difficult to fight them, but because of the Princess' strength, they are more capable of doing so
