FL-200 Cormorant, Autopiloting Container Transport

Description
The greatest barrier to using someone else's vehicle to its full potential is often the complexity of its controls. With that in mind, this VTOL was designed get the job done with the simplest controls possible. With just one button and one keypad, and WASD, you will soon be transporting various payloads with the greatest of ease.

Previously, for a container transport mission, you need a crane to load it onto a ship or train, slowly navigate along winding train tracks or between icebergs, and then unload it with another forklift or crane at the destination. No More! With the ability to pick up containers without a forklift, drop and return autopilot, and simple controls, container missions will never be the same.

Core Features:
  • Easy startup procedure, be airborne in 10 seconds;
  • Intuitive WASD land controls, with rear view cameras to align with containers, and programmed for stable container connection;
  • Autonomous one way ferry or drop and return autopilot ;
  • Priced for career mode at $65,000, $30-75 of diesel per minute, and $2800 to refuel;
  • 465km Range unloaded and 215 km with cargo, enough for an autonomous delivery and return mission between any two islands in the game;
  • Speed is 300km/h unloaded, 364km/h loaded, can fly for 90 minutes with no load and 30 minutes with load,
  • Additional 25,000 units of diesel can be carried in auxiliary tanks, for 12 hours flight time and 3200km range.

Operational Instructions:
Example: https://youtu.be/obpqx1TKZ_k
  1. Spawn in, Jump in cockpit;
  2. Enter GPS, press Autopilot button and let the autopilot taxi itself for takeoff;
  3. When autopilot enters landing mode, look up to use landing camera and compare with map to see if the spot is clear, if not then enter GPS for another spot;
  4. Wait for landing gears to extend, then drive up to a container, and rotate 180 degrees and back into it to pick it up, check alignment with rear view HUD;
  5. Press 1 to reset and retry if it doesn't connect the first time;
  6. With container docked stand up from pilot seat and open the rear sliding door to see where the container needs to go;
  7. Enter GPS of destination and press autopilot button to go. Optionally enter return coordinates in the right keypad to execute a drop and return;
  8. Look up at the ceiling to your right and press the AFK alarm if you want to do something else while it flies and have the autopilot to warn you when approaching the destination.

Weather Considerations:
-Avoid highest grade rain as it may cause a lightning strike that disables this vehicle in flight
-Orange or above wind speed will make container pickup risky as may cause the vehicle to slightly slip on the ground
-Red or above winds can cause a bumpy landing that damages components
-Orange or above head wind can severely affect speed and flight range, make sure to refuel if flying through high wind zones
-If flying long distance, determine ahead of time if you are going to be landing at night due to passage of time
-If making night time landing, make sure landing coordinates are clear, as it can be hard to make adjustments at night

Notes:
With cargo attached, the second keypad will enable autonomous drop and return, with an external autopilot button to also allow the vehicle to execute this function unmanned, but you should first make sure the dropzone is clear;
Reset the return GPS to (0,0) on the right side keypad when you want to disable that feature, else it might carry on flying to the return point after your next flight;
Engines can be accessed by turning off the main power switch to make it squat, and then climbing a landing gear to get on top of it;
Generators are automatic while flying. If electricity is low while on the ground, use manual switches to engage both VTOL mode and engines to recharge;
The safety settings prevent toggling engine and VTOL switches to unsafe positions (eg. shutting down engines in mid air) but this has its limitations and may not save you in every situation.
There is an alarm you can set to let you know when it's landing, but you can only hear it in first person mode.
It can also carry a variety of modular payloads in place of the cargo container, such as a mid-air refuelling module, passenger module, firefighting module, search and rescue module, or a small boat.
It is small enough to drive between containers to pick up containers in the back row, although it is still best to drive to the back to pick it up more safely;
Recommend against carrying extra fluid cargo and ISO container at the same time due to stability issues;
Pressing both 5 and 6 keys will open auxiliary tanks doors to jettison the fluid content, if loaded with water this can be used for firefighting;
There is a kinetic energy recovery system on the propellers to stop them faster and recharge batteries every time it lands.

!BEST! cargo VTOL i flew so far.... well i did not fly it as the autopilot did and it did not do half bad :)
The plane itself wants to wabble forwards and backwards and that is kinda shitty when trying to self pilot. but i dont need to xD unless it lands on something... sometimes... still i love it

yeah tons of old stuff are broken unfortunately

the auto pilot just send me into the atmosphere

Or get a Tesla Supercharging mod (I use gorilla's supercharging environment mod) and just plug it in at whatever terminal you are at

Thanks, the generator is active when flying but sometimes the RPM isn't high enough to overcome the battery drain, might need a power saving switch to turn the cameras and monitors off when the battery gets relative low i think

Operates better then Buzz and goes faster, I'd prefer this over buzz 100%. I personally don't like the risk of the battery shitting itself though mid air as the alternator is automatic and only engages on ground.

Thanks Jerry!

It uses diesel.

Nevermind, what gas does this use?
