Davis Theater, Chicago.

Description
This ornate theater is waiting to be developed into a shopping mall.

This is the famous Davis Theater from Chicago, the longest continually running theater in the US. it was originally known as the Pershing Theater, and had different marquee signs and a slightly different facade, this is how the building currently looks.

In 1999, this Theater building was put up for sale with the description ''This ornate theater is waiting to be developed into a shopping mall'' and later that year got acquired by a developer that wanted to demolish it to replace it with residential units.

A campaign was held to ''Save the Davis'' and in December 1999 the property was acquired by a non profit organisation and sold to the SRES in 2000, after which it started showing movies again.
