The Carnifex

"A beast stalks these once-hallowed graves, draped in the flesh of a dead man and hungering for the souls of the long-departed."

The Carnifex is attracted by the stench of the dead, returning from the graveyard as more of your heroes die. Similarly to Vvulf, the Carnifex will wait until you have a full party ready for him once his conditions have been met, with the Apprentice version requiring Lvl 1 Heroes, the Veteran requiring Lvl 3 Heroes, and the Champion requiring Lvl 5 Heroes. Similarly to the Crimson Court introduction event, refusing to fight the Carnifex will lead to the entire Abbey closing its doors until he has been defeated.

To fight the King in Black, the Darkest version of the Carnifex, you must have defeated the Heart of Darkness and have a full party of Lvl 6 Heroes.

Once the Carnifex has been drawn out, a plot quest will be dispatched in the Hamlet, taking place in its graveyard. Defeating the Carnifex will reward you one of his three trinkets and the From Beyond town event, as souls are freed from his damnable embrace. If you're preparing to fight the Carnifex, be sure to pack attacks that can hit the back ranks, and prepared for a brutally tough battle. This beast pulls no punches, and you can't escape his wrath.

Finally slaying the horrendous creature will rewards you with one of his three trinkets each time you do so.


Each time you defeat the Carnifex, you will trigger the From Beyond event as souls are released from its grasp. Defeating the final incarnation of the Carnifex will reward you with an enchanced version of From Beyond.
